World Mental Health Day 2024: A New Era of Open Conversations This World Mental Health Day, let's talk about something that has been brushed under the carpet for generations—mental health. In the past, struggles were silenced, emotions were hidden, and "tough it out" was the only mantra. Our parents and grandparents may not have spoken about their battles, but today, we know that silence can do more harm than good. This year, it’s time to bridge that generational gap and break the silence. Prioritizing mental health isn’t a weakness; it’s strength. Let’s create a future where open conversations, healing, and support are the norm. #mentalhealth #psychology #mentalhealthday #counselindia

Canadian Mental Health Week is here and what better way to kick it off than by taking time for yourself? I started the week early by doing something I had not prioritized in a couple years - spending time on my own doing art. In the past few years, my home art studio has turned into my office and study room. So, it was a great feeling to take some time out to indulge in something I once loved doing. We often forget to prioritize our mental health, and this year’s MH week theme is #compassion… that includes self-compassion. What are some things YOU can do to take care of your mental health this week? #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #SelfCare #MentalHealth #CompassionConnects

Day 7: Strengthening Through Support Systems - Isaiah 41:10 "Day 7 of Mental Health Awareness Month brings us a powerful reminder from Isaiah 41:10: 'So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.' In moments of fear and uncertainty, this verse encourages us to find strength not only in our faith but also in the support systems around us. Lean on your friends, family, and professionals who help keep you grounded and resilient. Whether it's a comforting conversation, prayer together, or professional counseling, these supports are vital for our mental health. They remind us that we are not alone in our struggles. This month, let's acknowledge and strengthen our support networks. Reach out to those who uplift you, and be that support for others as well. Together, with faith and community by our side, we can face any challenge. #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportSystems #LeanOnGod #MayMentalHealth"

October is mental health month , a time when the Australian community comes together to raise awareness and promote better mental health for all I get it, the topic of mental heath can sometimes be an overwhelming one , for both those experiencing it , and those supporting those that are experiencing it I have been on both sides On our regular breakfast with Mario from Gippsland FM this morning , we discussed at length this petinent topic affecting all of us, in particular men in regional Victoria Obviously everyone wants solutions and action steps At the very core , I would suggest we validate the emotions and feelings of what people are walking through . Whilst emotions are rarely objective , they form perceptions, which become experiences, which becomes ones subjective reality, which is really what leads to suffering That acknowledgement of someone’s subjective reality is incredibly validating and empowering and is truly what it means by ‘walking in someone’s shoes’ 👞 I have learnt the hard way that empathy is the greatest gift we can first provide. ❌ advice . ❌ trying to help These comes later after validation and affirmation Understandably evey individual case is different and mental health is a broad church But I have personally experienced the greatest healing when I have felt seen or heard And maybe, just maybe, that is a principle of the universe What are your thoughts for making mental health month count ? #mentalhealth #empathy #listening #mentalhealthmonth #publichealth

May 6th-12th is #MentalHealthWeek, "an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness about the importance of mental health. This year’s theme is Healing Through Compassion." The Canadian Mental Health Association discusses the practice of self-compassion. “Practicing self-compassion means approaching ourselves with the same kindness we extend to others such as our family and friends. In moments of difficulty, failure, or self-doubt, we recognize our pain instead of ignoring it and provide ourselves with comfort and care. It’s acknowledging that everyone experiences challenges, as this is simply part of being human.” Self-compassion is not only vital for our own well-being but also for fostering empathy and understanding towards others. Let's prioritize kindness towards ourselves and each other. Together,#CompassionConnects us all.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to understanding, compassion, and support for individuals navigating the twists and turns of mental well-being. As we recognize this month, let's not only acknowledge how vital mental health is but also pledge to destigmatize the discussion around it. Remember, talking about mental health doesn't mean you're weak. It shows courage and openness, essential for self-discovery and healing. So, as we journey through Mental Health Awareness Month, let's seize the chance to spread kindness and highlight the significance of mental well-being for ourselves and those we care about. #MentalHealthAwareness #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters #MindfulMay
