A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending the Sequoia Capital Europe 100 event in Switzerland. One observation stood out: the shifting dynamic between two of Europe’s most vibrant startup hubs. Last year at this event, founders from Paris and Berlin were equally represented. But this year, Paris significantly outnumbered Berlin - a reflection of the trends we’ve been witnessing. In France, government-backed initiatives, strong founder networks, and a surge of capital have fueled an unstoppable wave of innovation. The pride in their homegrown unicorns is palpable. Meanwhile, in Berlin, the energy has felt different - less momentum, fewer resources, and little support in recent years. That’s why we’ve made a bold move: we’re launching the first The Delta Campus in Berlin. We believe that creating a physical space for innovation can reignite the spark and restore Berlin to its rightful place as a top-tier startup hub. To every VC still flying into Berlin - come by and experience the energy of what we are building. Let’s not write off Berlin just yet. The future of this city is still bright. 🌟

I was told that organising three events during Slush week was "quite ambitious". EASY PEASY, I thought at the time. With less than three weeks to go I must admit I may have been wrong 😅 And yet, I am VERY excited about all of it: getting to organise great events in the city I'm from, getting to see colleagues, partners, and other familiar faces and to invite the most exciting startups and investors. What are the events? 1️⃣ We are hosting an event together with the British Embassy at the Ambassador's Residence on Day 0, 19 November. The topic of the event is sustainability, but we welcome VCs and startups from other fields as well. Happy National Day to all my new and old Swedish connections celebrating tomorrow 🇸🇪🥳 To mark the occasion, I wanted to share some stats and facts about the Swedish startup ecosystem: 🚀 Swedish startups have a total valuation of 239 billion euros. 🚀 Sweden has produced 41 unicorns. 🚀 Last year, Swedish startups drew in 4.7 billion euros in VC investments. 🚀 74 percent of the Swedish investments went to impact companies. 🚀🌏 Stockholm ranks first globally for climate tech funding. 🚀 Sweden is the 4th most most important European start up ecosystem. 🇸🇪🤝🇬🇧 Swedish companies have created nearly 23,400 jobs in the UK in the last decade – out of which 3,500 in London.
