Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a significant health risk. According to the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS), in about half of patients, the blood clot breaks away from the vein wall and travels to the lungs, where it can cause a pulmonary embolism. Approximately 25% of people who suffer a pulmonary embolism die as a result. This makes it the third leading cause of cardiovascular death worldwide, after stroke and heart attack. The danger: In up to two-thirds of all cases of thrombosis, people have no symptoms. This makes early detection a major challenge. The EU project "ThrombUS+" brings together 18 European partners to develop a new, portable diagnostic device. The EU is funding the project with 9.5 million EUR as part of the Horizon Europe Innovation Action. The ThrombUS+ project plans a portable cuff with an integrated ultrasound transducer for continuous vascular imaging of the lower limbs to detect venous thrombosis as soon as it occurs. In the project, Fraunhofer IPMS and VERMON are developing ultrasound transducer arrays for the portable component, which will enable continuous monitoring of DVT directly on site. Fraunhofer IPMS focuses on MEMS-based ultrasound transducers, so-called CMUTs (Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers). They are considered to be the next generation of medical ultrasound sensors. The low-cost mass production of CMUTs makes them widely available. Their advantages, such as miniaturization with a high number of channels, high bandwidth and sensitivity, open up the possibility of developing a completely new diagnostic system. The clinical, technical and regulatory experience gained in the ThrombUS+ project will therefore create new opportunities for market access of future complex AI-based medical devices. The project paves the way for a new era in which wearable devices and artificial intelligence can be used to transform diagnostics into continuous and autonomous point-of-care services. This will reduce the burden on physicians. The interdisciplinary and international composition of the consortium is crucial to its success. #Healthcare #FraunhoferIMS #HorizonEurope #MedTech #MedicalDevices

ECG has not been updated since its invention in 1903. It was the dream of the medical technology industry. The ECG encompasses a wide range of medical devices, such as ECG machines, vital signs monitoring, stress tests and Holter. They all use the ECG extensively. There has been no subversive change for twelve decades. As a result, the mortality rate for heart disease is the highest in the world. Many diseases cannot be detected with it. Only after myocardial infarction, the image display rate is 50%, the AVNRT/AVRT display rate for no occurrence is 0%, and the display rate for heart failure is 0%. Existing ECG measurements and analysis are very difficult to detect. For AI, it can be said that no company is accurate {one company, only atrial fibrillation, the highest only 75%}. There are countless technical bottlenecks that PhysioSign has gradually eliminated like never before. This has been made possible by new ECG machines. (because the new anatomical images, new data and new AI). Thus, for the first time in history, a quantitative (data) diagnosis and a qualitative (image) diagnosis were realized. After 2 decades of research and development, clinical studies and animal testing, PhysioSign has a database of more than 15 million cases. After pre-marketing, worldwide sales will start this year. This is the first time since 1903 that the ECG device has been reinvented. Unicorn's products will bring about many disruptive revolutions and industrialization in the medical field. The key is to provide physicians with five times more images and a complete set of cardiac data (including invasive and invasive non-detectable data). - Scientific article published in the International Journal of Cardiology in 2016 - 15 million clinical trials completed in 6 countries in 2015 - 53 US & International patents obtained PhysioSign USA #ecg #noninvasive #ep #cardiology #electrophysiology #ai #electrocardiogram #innovation #medtech #heartdisease #heartattack #coronaryarterydisease #cardiovasculardisease
