FAQ: What is a client sign off? This is a phrase used throughout the design process to denote a verbal agreement/acceptance of a design at a particular stage of the design process. It is not necessarily a physical signing of a document. When you “sign off” on a stage, you express satisfaction with the design and agree to proceed to the next phase. Any deviations from the agreed design after signing off result in a fee variation, although minor design adjustments are typically accommodated without extra charges. Sign-off serves to safeguard the Architect against substantial, unanticipated design changes not covered in the original quote. #faq #architects #signoff #design

Everyone wants to design the next best thing - and we’d love to build it! But the reality is, we have a lot of other factors to consider. Planning, budgets, buildability and site constraints to name a few. Our design review looks to dive into the designs and give advice on buildability and methodology, striking the perfect balance between world-class design and real-world execution. This standalone service can shave unnecessary costs, help optimise the build time, and de-risk the project – saving everyone a good headache (or two!).

What you learn in this 3-part trilogy of Big Idea letters will be the most powerful information you have ever received. If you implement what you learn, you will become more in demand and have a long line of clients waiting to pay you a premium to secure your services. That’s because your ability to command the highest fees is simply a matter of supply and demand. Demand for your services needs to be higher than the supply. Your challenge is simple … how can you create extreme demand while reducing supply when there are so many #architects ready and willing to drop their fees to win a project? Simple. Simple but not easy, unless you follow my instruction! Read on to Richard's Becoming The ‘Jeet Kune Do’ of Design (Part 1): 👉 https://lnkd.in/gHVjWJj6 👈

Have you heard of the Design-Build Method? With this method, rather than having separate contracts for the design and construction companies, both fall under one contract. According to the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), design-build “is intended to be a highly collaborative, fully integrated undertaking that is built on trust, mutual respect, teamwork, innovation and creative problem solving.” What do you want to learn about next? Strong collaboration between architects and clients is key. Let's explore why. We all crave expressing our individuality, and in our field, that's achieved through modern designs that blend style and functionality. But finding the perfect fit for a client's taste can be more challenging than it seems. Our inner psychologists and analysts are also involved. Practical improvements, not instant perfection, are what they offer. This is when self-reflection is key: what do you truly desire? From these questions, the architect crafts a unique and off-the wall solution. It's a dynamic dance: client and architect take turns leading, one illuminating the path while the other navigates the challenges. But throughout the process, clear communication is key. By truly listening to both themselves and each other, they can reach the desired destination together. #level80_architects
