Our new report on the state of European Healthtech at the Growth equity stage, co-authored by MTIP is out! A generation of healthech startups is now reaching the growth stage, with transformative potential in anti-obesity, AI, telemedicine, physician burnout, medical imaging, personalized healthcare and more. Median deal sizes for health tech startups have doubled in a decade, but growth capital remains a critical challenge for scale-up growth. 🥈 Health & life sciences was the second most funded European industry in 2023 and proved more resilient than other segments. 💰 European VC funding in Healthtech (Digital health) reached $3.3B in 2023, a funding decline of 38% compared to 2022, in line with the overall market downturn. 🔍Though digital care has historically been the most funded segment, health IT and digital pharma have been proven most resilient in recent years. 🤖 AI is rapidly advancing in healthcare, enhancing clinician productivity and saving costs. Applications such as AI-powered surgical solutions and automated image diagnosis have raised over $2B and $393M respectively in Europe since 2016. ❄️ The Nordic countries are the strongest European Healthtech hubs relative to their GDP.
