❣️ Fistula surgery is highly cost-effective.❣️ According to peer-reviewed research conducted by members of the Fistula Foundation program staff, a dollar spent on treating obstetric fistula goes remarkably far toward improving the quality of a woman’s life. Using a widely accepted method for measuring the relative value of diverse health interventions, our team rigorously analyzed the cost-effectiveness of fistula repair surgery across 143 hospital sites in 27 countries. The results of their work—published this month by the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics—show that fistula surgery achieves high impact at a relatively low cost.
