It is National Exercise With Your Child Week! And Healthy Contributions is all in for supporting it! National Exercise With Your Child Week is here to act as a reminder that running, jumping, skipping, swimming, game playing and so many other things can be a fun way to get in shape, burn calories and bond together as a family. Challenge the kids to a game of basketball, or pump up those bike tires and go on a ride out in nature. It doesn’t really matter what the activity is, as long as it gets the heart rate up for a few minutes and creates emotional bonding opportunities for all of the members of the family! What other ideas do you have for exercising with your child? Healthy Contributions wants to know - feel free to comment and share below. #WellnessWednesday #WellnessRewarded #HealthyContributions

Did you know swimming offers incredible benefits for children with special needs? The supportive environment of water allows them to experience a wider range of motion and movement compared to land activities. This can lead to fantastic physical improvements, including: Enhanced Strength & Coordination: Swimming strengthens muscles, improves core stability, and promotes overall coordination. Increased Range of Motion: The gentle resistance of water allows for a wider range of motion, beneficial for children with stiffness or limited mobility. Improved Cardiovascular Health: Swimming is a fantastic low-impact cardio workout that strengthens the heart and improves overall fitness. But the benefits extend far beyond the physical! Swimming can also have a significant positive impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being: Reduced Stress: The calming effect of water can help manage anxiety and stress in children with special needs. Boosted Confidence: Mastering water skills fosters a sense of accomplishment and builds self-confidence. Enhanced Socialization: Swimming lessons provide a fun and inclusive environment for socialization and interaction with peers. Share your story! The more I study about Long-term athlete development and child development over the past few years the more I have been saying this. One very noticeable thing we all over look here is not just the enjoyable part of swimming but also the physical aspects. Ie the importance of sleep in children. More and more case studies are showing that sleep plays a big part of our development. And not getting enough of it can harm us in the long run. Anyone else watching the Olympics? The summer Olympics have some of my favorite classic events including swimming, diving, gymnastics, and track and field. There’s some exciting newer inclusions like breaking, skateboarding, and surfing (see Colin Jost’s reporting). I’ve been thinking about training and how expensive taking care of ourselves can be. It’s imperative to have good physical, mental, and financial well-being. Thankfully for many of us, our employers provide significant resources in these areas. You are generally provided with access to group medical insurance and often other programs promoting mental and physical wellness. You may also have access to discount and reimbursement programs to support your financial wellness. There are things we can do outside of our employment to promote physical health while also paying attention to our wallets. If you belong to a gym, stick to one, and go! I use a paid app with equipment so I can exercise in my own home and I use the app’s other functionality like yoga and meditation to ensure I’m getting my money’s worth. We’ve talked about this before, but reminder to buy your high protein items in bulk and on sale! Mine include turkey, chick peas, Greek yogurt, and veggie burgers. Pick wellness activities that mean the most to you to invest in yourself, but moderate. For example, get a monthly massage or go to a Pilates class, and in exchange skip the mani/pedi, color your hair at home (maybe), or avoid alcohol or dessert at dinner. However you balance your Olympic or other dreams, the most important step is the first! #EYNavigate @EY #FinancialWellbeing #Wellbeing #FinancialLiteracy #FinancialHealth #TotalRewards #PersonalFinance #MondayswithMarc #Olympics #TeamUSA https://lnkd.in/ecM8Cccz
