Swimming is one of the enjoyable sports that is beneficial for both physical and mental health. But did you know that it can affect ear health, especially if you suffer from hearing impairment? #Hearing is always dedicated to providing you with more information about hearing impairment. 📍How does swimming affect hearing? Swimmer's Ear (External Ear Inflammation): When swimming, water can accumulate in the outer ear canal, creating a moist environment that encourages the growth of bacteria and fungi, which can lead to infections causing pain and temporary hearing impairment. Water Entry into the Middle Ear: If you have a perforated eardrum or issues with the Eustachian tube, water entering the middle ear can lead to chronic infections that negatively impact hearing. Effects of Chlorine and Chemicals: Exposure to chlorine and chemicals in swimming pool water can irritate the ear canal, increasing sensitivity in individuals who already have hearing impairment. 📍How to protect your ears while swimming? Use earplugs designed for swimming. Dry your ears thoroughly after swimming. Avoid swimming in contaminated water to prevent infections. Visit a specialist regularly, especially if you experience hearing impairment or recurrent ear infections. #Hearing will help you enjoy swimming without worrying about your ear health. Continued.... Managing Common Ear Issues Earwax Buildup Excessive earwax can cause discomfort and hearing issues. During the rainy season, the humidity can make earwax softer, leading to blockages. If you experience earwax buildup, use ear drops prescribed by a healthcare professional to soften the wax. Never attempt to remove earwax with sharp objects. Swimmer's Ear This is a common condition during the rainy season, especially for swimmers. It is an infection of the outer ear canal caused by bacteria. #handicapped being #handicapped refers to having limited or restrictive functionality than an abled person. however, being physically handicapped is no restriction when one is not mentally handicapped. being mentally handicapped is debilitating even for abled and abled-bodied. we have seen many times how the mind dictates that it is not possible, and then quitting follows. when the mind is spirited to imagine what it can achieve, it will. when the mind dictates that the impossible is nothing, then the body and spirit will willingly just do it. this boy Sonny has the same dream as any abled body although he is wheelchair bound. what did he do? he goes about to achieve his aspiration by being a ballkid for the 2024 AO. he is the pathfinder for those physically handicapped to volunteer for the same role; a ballkid. he is wheelchair bound yet his mindset and willpower can easily match any one of us, abled-bodied. when we do it so can he, that is the pioneering spirit. you can never discover the new ocean until you are willing to leave your current shore. never be handicapped by our own mind. be like Sonny with an indomitable spirit of the impossible is nothing, just do it. live our dream. #maverick #rebelbadass #choobgrandpa #thoughtleaderwannabe https://lnkd.in/g3-FXJmt

Ever been lip-read or caught yourself looking at someone’s lips more than their eyes? A celebrity lip-reader figured out that John Krasinski told his wife, Emily Blunt, that he couldn’t wait to get a divorce (yep, link in comments). It turns out that paying for lip service (well, lip-reading) can cost as much as $120 per hour. While this may seem like a weird or hilarious story, for millions of people, lip reading is a vital form of communication. 🙋🏻♂️ At networking events, some people still find it odd when they try to shout in my ear when things get noisy, and I move back to read their lips instead. Funny? Not sure. Even those without hearing issues unconsciously rely on lip reading when noise spikes - so why not create experiences where everyone can hear clearly, without the mental gymnastics? Let’s make audio inclusivity the norm, not the exception. 👂💬 #AudioInclusivity #LipReading #HearingWellness #BetterSound #InclusiveDesign #InclusiveCommunication #ClearCommunication

Tongue twisters are like little playful challenges for our mouths and brains. They help us in a couple of interesting ways that are quite human-like. Firstly, tongue twisters are like puzzles for our mouths. When we try to say them quickly, our tongue, lips, and jaw have to work together in a precise and coordinated manner. It's almost like teaching our mouths new dance moves! This helps improve our dexterity and control over our speech muscles, much like practicing a musical instrument helps improve coordination. Secondly, tongue twisters are also great for our brains. When we attempt to say them rapidly, our brains have to process and organize the sounds and syllables quickly. It's a bit like doing mental gymnastics! This can improve our concentration, memory, and even our ability to think on our feet—skills that are indeed very human. So, tongue twisters aren't just fun little word games; they're actually a clever way to exercise and train both our mouths and our minds, helping us become more articulate and agile communicators, just like any other kind of exercise helps keep us fit and flexible. Here is my favorite on-the-go tongue twister. 😀 "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck If a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would If a woodchuck could chuck wood." #tonguetwisters #esl #efl #tesol #languagelearning #nnes

Have you ever tried practicing a difficult skill on your non-dominant side? Whether it's improving coordination in a tricky musical passage, improving learning and performance of sport skills (from long jump to soccer to fencing), or even reducing strength/muscle loss after an injury, research on "bilateral transfer" suggests that practicing your non-dominant side may actually help you improve performance on your dominant side! https://lnkd.in/eSFMPqZY
