As we observe Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month, the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) wishes to highlight the crucial role of awareness and early detection in combating esophageal cancer. This disease is one of the deadliest forms of cancer, largely due to its late diagnosis in many patients. In the United States, esophageal cancer is expected to result in approximately 22,370 new cases and cause nearly 16,130 deaths in 2024. This cancer type has a five-year survival rate of about 20%, underscoring the importance of recognizing symptoms early and undergoing regular medical screening. This April, let's raise our voices and spread the word about the significance of early detection and support the ongoing research that brings hope to those affected by esophageal cancer. https://lnkd.in/egA25rnh #esophagealcancerawareness #cancerresearch #earlydetection #NFCR #fightcancer #innovation #healthawareness #cancerprevention #savelives #makecurespossible

How the ICR has led the way in #OvarianCancer research 🔬 🧬 👩🔬 👨🔬 More than 300,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally each year. Often difficult to detect in its early stages, 75 per cent of ovarian cancer cases are only discovered once the disease is advanced, when treatment options are limited and outcomes more uncertain. Despite the challenges, the ICR has been at the forefront of ovarian cancer research and drug discovery for decades. From laying the foundations for cancer research in the 1940s and becoming the first centre in Europe to develop chemotherapeutic agents in the 1950s, to the discovery of idetrexed in 2005 and the recent trials of drug combinations such as avutometinib and defactinib in 2020 – the ICR has led the way in ovarian cancer research over the course of the past century. Read more here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eSYm_c5E Our research is helping more women survive ovarian and breast cancer. ”Exciting Cross-Border Collaboration on Colorectal Cancer Prevention! We’re proud to announce that joint Danish-Swedish project “Px7” has just received a 6 million SEK grant from the Sjöberg Foundation! This funding supports our multicentre randomized controlled trial investigating whether carrot compounds, falcarinol (FaOH) and falcarindiol (FaDOH), can prevent colorectal cancer (CRC) recurrence. With 400 patients across Denmark and Sweden, this project highlights the strength of regional teamwork in advancing cancer prevention. A heartfelt thanks to the Sjöberg Foundation and our Danish and Swedish collaborators for making this important research possible. Together, we aim to pave the way for innovative cancer prevention—one glass of juice at a time. #Sahlgrenska #UniversityOfGothenburg #SATCC #CapioSanktGoranHospital #ErstaHospital #UpsalaUniversityHospital #UmeaUniversity #ColorectalCancerPrevention #carrotdiet
