When life throws you a curve-ball, sometimes you need to get creative! 🎯🏠 Cassie* called us in a bit of a panic—her mom needed to move in with her family immediately due to a sudden emergency. But there was just one little problem… no available room for mom! Cassie knew she had to act fast, so we came to the rescue. We helped Cassie make the tough call that her kids would need to share a room, but with all their toys, books, and furniture, she couldn’t imagine squeezing everything into one space. We arrived and got right to work! First, we decluttered, donating some outgrown toys and furniture to make more room. Then, we played around with layouts, making sure each kid had their own bed and nightstand. For extra storage, we got creative with under-bed bins and optimized the closet—bye-bye bulky sliding doors! Sometimes you’ve got to think outside the closet to find space! 🚪✨ The result? The kids now have a fun shared space with room to play, mom has her own cozy spot, and everyone is thrilled. Cassie was amazed at how quickly we turned chaos into calm. 🌈 Do you have a family emergency in San Francisco or Atlanta that requires you to drastically change your living space? When helping seniors downsize, the question often arises: What do we do with all the big, bulky furniture? 🛋️ This furniture often holds sentimental value but doesn't fit into smaller, more modern living spaces. Today, I want to share some practical steps to tackle this challenge while ensuring everyone feels respected and supported. 1️⃣ Assess Sentimental Value: Sit down with your loved ones and identify which pieces hold sentimental value. Some items may be non-negotiable while others can be let go. 2️⃣ Donate or Sell: Many organizations accept furniture donations, and platforms like Facebook Marketplace or local consignment shops make selling easy. This can also be a meaningful way to give these items a new life in another home. 3️⃣ Upcycle: Turn large furniture into more practical pieces. A vintage bed frame can become a unique bench, or a dresser can be transformed into a bookcase. Get creative! 4️⃣ Storage Solutions: If you're not ready to part with certain pieces, short-term storage might be the solution. This buys time to decide what to keep and what to let go. 5️⃣ Digital Memory: Consider taking high-quality photos of the pieces. Create a photo book that honors the memories without needing to physically keep everything. Transitioning to a new, cozier space should be a joyful experience, free from clutter and stress. Make downsizing about making new memories, while cherishing the old ones. ❤️ How have you handled big furniture when downsizing? I'd love to hear your tips and experiences! #RealEstate #SeniorLiving #Downsizing #FamilyFirst

🏡As many people are preparing to list their homes for sale this summer, we have the honor and privilege of helping with a lot of the initial decluttering before staging and packing can even begin. A recent client asked us to tackle several rooms in her home including the 👩🏽🍳kitchen in a matter of 2 hours by one member of #TeamIJS. Biggest tips and take aways? 🍇Always find the low hanging fruit first and in this case it was the stuff on the floors and counter. It gave us the ability to then dive into the cabinets and drawers and pull out what was going to be donated or thrown out. 🗑️Immediately remove donations and trash from the space or your brain will continue to only see clutter and not a clearing. 🗄️Make sure there is enough space in the cabinets and drawers to temporarily contain stuff on the counter that you use on a daily basis but don't want out for any Realtor showings. 🖼️And don't forget about taking anything on your refrigerator (photos, magnets, etc.) off the surfaces, as well as remove anything that has been collecting dust on top of the refrigerator or use a basket to "corral" everything for a more aesthetically appealing visual, but still give you access to whatever you put inside it. #GarageOrganization #HomeOrganization #Declutter #TransformYourSpace #ItsJustStuff #professionalorganizer #downsizing #homeorganizer #clutter #organizing

Do you notice how the smallest spaces can sometimes have the most significant impact? Last year, I worked with a client who had a small hall closet. While that closet seemed insignificant, decluttering and organizing it improved its functionality. We were shocked at how much stuff we pulled out of it! Today, take 10 minutes to declutter your hall closet. Set your time for 10 minutes and remove all items from the closet. If you have a big hall closet or the closet is crammed full, focus on one area, like the hanging rod, the floor, or the shelf/shelves. Sort through the coats, shoes, accessories, and whatever else is hiding. Decide what stays and what goes. As always, keep only what you use regularly or love. Put the items you keep away neatly, throw away broken items, and put things for donation into a bag. The nice thing about having an organized hallway closet is that it becomes guest-friendly by freeing up space for their belongings, making it easier to find and store seasonal items (like scarves and umbrellas). That wasn't so hard. I hope you have a wonderful (and productive) week! Need help? Let's chat! I took a break from the computer this afternoon...to continue tackling the chore of organizing & decluttering my bedroom. One of my goals for this summer/fall is to get everything out of my storage unit (that I've had for way too many years), and to turn my bedroom back into a 'mini' studio apartment (minus the kitchen & bathroom). My closet is about two-thirds to three-fourths organized & cleaned. I still need to get a couple of baskets for organization, I need to get an old computer out of the closet, and am thinking of getting another small bookcase to put in there (to hold shoes, and some craft supplies--since I have a lot of those). I currently have two bags of clothes and a bag of shoes to take to the women's shelter for donations at some point over the next few weeks--and I know that I'll probably have another two to five bags of clothes by the end of summer/fall as well (I have box of sweaters in my storage unit I need to go through still). I'm still trying to 'narrow' down my tops to less than a dozen each of t-shirts & tank tops...and I've realized that in the summer--I prefer to wear tank tops..and I'd prefer to have enough that I don't have to do laundry every week. 😂 I have two boxes of books to take to the local library to donate (so far). I need to find someplace (other than habitat for humanity) that may want to take about half a dozen empty flower vases off my hands (these are scattered throughout the house). I'll probably have at least one box (if not more) of DVDs to sell back at some point this summer as well. But now...it's time to feed the dogs, then grab some more water and go sit outside and enjoy the sunny weather...since it was raining this morning. #selfawareness #decluttering #goingsemiminimalisitic #springorsummercleaning #outwiththeoldclothes

CLOSET ORGANIZING Closets come in all shapes and sizes and are organized accordingly. These are one of our favorite spaces to organize- here are some of our pointers:- Stuffing f pocket books with paper so that they not only stand up like soldiers but helps keep their shape. Use bins where needed on the shelves especially if a shortage or drawers Changing the hangers to one type always adds a finishing touch but not a necessity. Organizing the clothes into zones is a good way of saving time if in a hurry to get out of the home! Color coding is also preferable but not always again a necessity. Decluttering regularly or at least at the beginning of each season - getting rid of clothes that don’t fit anymore - are broken or stained or just because you have no idea why you bought it the first place and will never wear. There are plenty of charities that will pick up unwanted but in good condition clothes Contact us at www.wearesws.com for help with your closets. #atlantaorganizer #closetorganizing #closetpurge #movinghome #closets #organizingclosets #closetInspo
