Maintaining Health in Old Age Maintaining health in old age is essential for living a fulfilling and independent life. Experts emphasize that simple lifestyle habits can greatly improve the quality of life for older adults. Firstly, maintaining a healthy weight through a balanced diet is crucial. Older individuals are encouraged to consume nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Regular physical activity, even light exercises like walking or stretching, helps keep the body strong and flexible. Avoiding harmful habits, particularly smoking, is another important step in promoting long-term health. Health professionals also recommend regular check-ups to monitor overall well-being and address potential issues early. In addition to physical health, social interaction plays a significant role. Spending time with family and friends, engaging in community activities, and fostering relationships contribute to emotional and mental well-being. Furthermore, finding time to relax and manage stress is vital for maintaining a calm and positive outlook on life. Adopting these practices enables older adults to enjoy a meaningful and active lifestyle. Health professionals agree that aging can be embraced positively with proper care and attention to overall well-being. #NenoMalaysia #MobileHealthcare #SocialEnterprise #PWDEmpowerment #ClosingTheGap #Healthcare #SocialCare #GigEconomy #NenoTeam #HealthyAgeing #SeniorCare #SeniorCareAdvise #ElderlyCareMatters #SeniorCareGuide #TravellingGuide #Seniors #HealthyLiving

🌟 Don't let age slow us down! 🌟 It was an honour and pleasure to write an article for The Body Coach platform covering the importance of movement for longevity. See the link to the full article below, but if you want a short summary see below! As we age, it's normal for our stamina to change, but that doesn't mean we should give in to a sedentary lifestyle. Staying active is key to maintaining independence and warding off age-related health issues. Movement is life's greatest anti-ageing treatment. While ageing brings physical changes, regular physical activity can help combat decline. It's not just about living longer, but living better. Studies show movement can preserve muscle mass, improve balance, reduce the risk of falls, and even combat loneliness by fostering social connections. The benefits extend to heart health and brain function too. Whether it's a daily walk, gardening, or a dance class, finding enjoyable activities is key. Remember, it's never too late to start, and any amount of activity counts. So, keep moving, stay active, and embrace a healthier, happier future! 💪 #ActiveAgeing #StayHealthy #YouGotThis https://lnkd.in/eTbBRbhP

This year, the UN estimates the population of over 65-year-olds will outnumber those under the age of 15 in the EU. The topic of #healthyaging and longevity is particularly popular at the moment but what does it actually mean? There are many different factors that determine how we age – from our genetics and how our body works, to where we live, to our daily habits. For some of us, we might be a little stiffer in the morning. Others may feel less hungry. Inevitability, there tend to be a few more wrinkles when we look in the mirror! None of this should slow us down, though. I read a 2023 report by the WHO on how we can promote healthy aging and my key takeaways are: 🔹 There is no one-size fits all approach to healthy longevity. Our bodies all work differently. However, our focus should rest on both mental and physical wellbeing – from mobility, to sense of purpose, to community. 🔹 Keeping active and getting good quality sleep are important elements of ensuring our body and brain keep functioning... not to mention the positive impact they have on our mental health. 🔹 A healthy diet which is balanced, nutrient-rich, and that caters to the specific needs of older adults is fundamental in keeping age-related diseases at bay. And so, as we reach the mid-point of UN's Decade of Healthy Aging, we need to all consider what we can do to live happier and healthier lives... no matter how many birthday candles we've blown out! I’d love to hear from you about what you think is important to promote healthy #longevity. #healthylongevity #healthyaging
