TIPS FOR WRITING EFFECTIVE GRANT APPLICATIONS Securing grants is a critical lifeline for many not-for-profits, but success rates are low and getting worse as demand continues to rise faster than supply. As a result, preparing bids can feel both daunting and potentially futile. Whether you're applying to a small trust or a major funder, crafting a compelling grant application is vital. Here are some key tips to help you stand out: 1. Understand the Funder’s Priorities Research is everything. Carefully review the funder’s guidelines, priorities, and past grantees. Tailor your application to align with their objectives, demonstrating how your project meets their goals. 2. Start with a Strong Case for Support Your application should clearly articulate: * The need: Why does your project matter? What problem are you solving? * The beneficiaries: Who will benefit, and how will their lives improve? * The solution: Why is your approach effective and sustainable? Use data, testimonials, and stories to build a compelling narrative. 3. Be Specific and Measurable Funders want to see impact. Set clear, measurable outcomes and explain how you’ll track progress. For example, instead of saying, “We aim to reduce homelessness,” say, “We aim to provide 50 individuals with emergency shelter and support 30 into permanent housing within 12 months.” 4. Show Value for Money Break down your budget and justify costs. Funders need to know their money will be used wisely. Include quotes or benchmarks if possible to show you've planned carefully. 5. Collaborate and Involve Beneficiaries Demonstrate partnership working where relevant—whether that’s with other organisations, local authorities, or your beneficiaries. Funders value inclusive, community-driven approaches. 6. Proofread and Seek Feedback Typos or unclear writing can undermine your credibility. Ask colleagues or trustees to review your application to ensure it’s concise, engaging, and free of jargon. 7. Follow Up If your application is unsuccessful, request feedback and use it to refine future submissions. Building relationships with funders can also enhance your chances for future opportunities. Effective grant writing is about storytelling, strategy, and precision. By focusing on the funder’s perspective and showcasing your impact, you can unlock vital funding for your cause. 💡 Grant Writing Tips for Nonprofits 💡 Securing grants is a vital part of funding for nonprofits, but the process can be challenging. Here are a few key practices to help your organization stand out and increase your chances of success: 1. Research Thoroughly: Find grants that align with your nonprofit’s mission and goals. Tailoring your proposal to the right funders increases your chances of success. 2. Tell a Compelling Story: Share the impact your nonprofit has made and what you aim to achieve. Funders want to see that their support will make a real difference. 3. Be Specific with Goals & Budget: Clearly outline how the funds will be used, and ensure your goals are measurable. This demonstrates your organization’s accountability. 4. Follow Guidelines: Each grant has specific requirements. Pay attention to details, formatting, and deadlines to ensure your application is not dismissed for avoidable errors. 5. Build Relationships: Connect with potential funders before and after submitting your grant. Networking can make your application more memorable and build long-term partnerships. Grant writing takes time and effort, but with the right strategy, your nonprofit can open doors to new funding opportunities! 🌱 #SuccessNavigatorNecia #GrantWriting #NonprofitSuccess #FundingOpportunities #jonespropertycompany🏘 #jonescompanyconsulting #jonespropertycompany🏡 #navigatingsuccesscultivatingcommunity

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 I met with a non-profit who inquired about applying for grants. I explained the grant writing process to him. 🗣️ His response “Wait, I have to be involved in this process? Can’t I tell you what I want and then you take care of everything else? I’m busy, I do not have time to be involved.” 🗣️ My response “Yes, I am going to need your help to successfully complete the grant writing process.” Here are some common misconceptions about getting a grant writer 1. Grant writers can guarantee funding ✅ Fact: Grant writers can substantially increase your odds of securing funding, but can never guarantee it. 2. Grant writers can handle the whole grant writing process alone ✅ Fact: Grant writers need the help of staff in the organization to complete the grant application process 3. Grant writers can write one proposal and send it to multiple funders ✅ Fact: Each funder has its own set of requirements and guidelines the funded must adhere to. 4. Grant writers should get paid on commissions ✅ Fact: This is viewed as unethical because it causes conflict of interests. Grant writers are generally paid a flat fee or hourly fee. 5. As a nonprofit leader, I don’t need to know anything about grants ✅ Fact: If your organization is applying for grants, you need to have a basic understanding of grants so you know what you are getting involved in and what is expected of your nonprofit.

As you might have already deduced, I'm waging war against the broke Changemaker mentality. I believe it is possible to change the world and prosper whilst creating solutions to social problems in communities. We are all about the impact and income this year!!!! In that vein, my mission this year is sharing with Changemakers how they can create impact and generate income at the same time. One of the ways to generate a side hustle income as a Changemaker is via grantwriting. The grant writing industry is a multi-million dollar industry. Over $60 billion grants are disbursed yearly. There are over 10 million nonprofit organizations in the world. This means there will always be a need for Grantwriters. There are 16,708 active grant writer job openings in the US alone. The average income for a grant writer is between $50,000 - $100,000 a year. Grantwriting is one of the most sought-after skills you can have at the moment. Imagine if you were to write grant proposals for 3-5 nonprofits per month at the smallest price of $100; that is $300 -$500 monthly. Imagine it was a retainer position and you not only write nonprofit organizations one grant proposal, but you actually research perfect-fit grants for them and create a custom application for each of the grant applications; that can amount to about $1500 - $3000 within 3 months. This could be you, all from the comfort of your home. All as a side hustle, cos you can still do your day job. During the ACCELERATE WORKSHOP happening on the 23rd & 24th of February, I'll be showing you: 🎯How to write winning grant proposals from my experience as a professional grantwriter with over 3 years experience managing over #1 billion fund for nonprofits as a Senior Programs Manager 🎯Samples of winning grant proposals 🎯Step by step guidelines and templates 🎯I will also show you the business side of grantwriting 🎯Places to find local and international clients, pricing and how to charge, and many more. If you'll like to attend this workshop, comment "ACCELERATE" to get the link to sign up. I also have added bonuses for you. #grantwriting #grant #grantfunding #nonprofit #funding #businessfunding #grantwriter #funds #fundraising #nonprofitfunding #nonprofitorganization

Is it the "Why" or the "How?” “Grant writing is a scam,” proclaimed a client board member. I was astonished. I suppose paying contractors to fill out applications and mailing them to foundations being fully aware that funding is unlikely, could be called a scam. "I don't understand it.” He said. “We filled out the forms. Why won't they support us?" Wrong question, Mr. board member. Just like investors, funders can spot a mile away an organization that doesn’t have the capacity to take on the responsibility of the funds or manage the projects being proposed for the funds. For seven years, I persisted in submitting grant proposals to a foundation, confident in our alignment with their mission and our strategy for impactful fund stewardship. Despite this, we faced rejection each year. However, my resilience paid off in the eighth year when we finally secured the funding. The difference in the eighth year was demonstrating the strength and agility our organization brought to the mission. To assist you in getting to the funding sooner, here is an informative article that serves as a roadmap for leveraging your “why” into a compelling proposal. https://lnkd.in/gqkrXN3d Contact me here on LinkedIn to discuss how I can help you translate your organization's why into a robust and fundable program. #charityengine #ypo #nonprofit #grantwriting #philanthropy
