As I prepare for my upcoming speech on vertical farming, focusing specifically on the remarkable journey of Supernormal Greens Ljusgårda AB, I've immersed myself in the company's history. Each day of research brings a new wave of excitement and admiration. From a casual conversation in a sauna to a humble beginning in a garage, and eventually becoming one of the top 300 vertical farming companies in the world, Supernormal Green's growth story is nothing short of inspirational. Delving into the lives of the company's founders has been a captivating experience. Their boundless creativity and incredible capabilities are truly astounding. Each founder is a genius in their own right, quietly shaping the world without the recognition they deserve. It's a poignant reminder of how our education often falls short in teaching us how to be genuinely innovative and impactful. In universities, we chase Nobel Prizes, yearning to emulate the likes of Einstein. However, it’s these unsung heroes who are the true architects of our world. #Agritech needs disruptive innovations in upstream solutions!! Investments in #agritech #startups have grown from $0.2 billion in 2018 to $1.2 billion in 2022. Only 1/6th of this has gone to #innovations in #biotech and #newproductdevelopment. Brilliant progress has been made in the last decade through incremental innovations that brought efficiencies through #digital interventions to input and output supply chains, crop advisory, weather information and market prices. Government support has enabled #startup proliferation to create a comprehensive ecosystem for farming and post harvest management solutions. Recent years have witnessed #digital interventions in the form of precision farming and climate smart #agriculture. Scientific interventions are further required to provide solutions for ↗️improving soil health, ✅developing climate resilient seed varieties and ⚛️creating solutions to improve nutrient and water use efficiency. A combined effort in the form of policy push by collaboration of public and private enterprises is needed for ensuring not only improved #farmer incomes, but to also to make agriculture as a profession of choice again.
