This Veterans Day, Hebrew SeniorLife is proud to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Among those are many of the patients and residents in our communities, along with a number of our employees. Boston 25 News recently featured the impressive story of one of the veterans in our community. Today, Orchard Cove residents are performing a play written and directed by fellow resident Al Benjamin, a 100-year-old World War II veteran. The original work is about Benjamin’s time as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps Eighth Air Force during World War II, during which he flew 31 bombing runs in a B-17. Thank you to all our veterans, and may we continue to share their stories. Watch here 👉🏼 https://bit.ly/4fFKF1L #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans

This is a sobering reminder of the responsibilities held by US Military personnel. The ability of the US to deploy globally and assist partner nations is likely the only thing keeping the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea from becoming a battleground of an increasingly aggressive Beijing and their regional rivals. I wonder if increasing partner state defensive capacity would become a viable deterrent of aggression, while the US is focused on other crises. The Pacific Pathways program mentioned in the article seems like a great way to showcase the commitment to maintaining a peaceful status quo and help bridge the gap in responsiveness created by limited resources.

I finished my 20th book of the year, “Dogfight Over Tokyo: The Final Air Battle of the Pacific and the Last Four Men to Die in World War II” by John Wukovits and upon reflecting about these four men and this air battle there were also some Japanese pilots who likely perished on the final day of WWII and I wonder if any Japanese author(s) have written about their lives and fates as Wukovits has done for these Americans? I hope you may take a moment to read my review. #bookreviewer #reader #bookreviews #history #WWII #thegreatestgeneration

Planet Of Inclusivity 🤝: A W🌐rld H🏡me For All Races 👨👩👧👦👨🎤👲🧕! Life as we experienced it, goes through several biological stages from conception, being born, grow as teenager to adulthood down to being a senior until death do us part. Such stages are summed up as "#LifeCycle" and repeated round the clock as long as biological human life continues to exist in planet Earth or anywhere else in the future. At those various life stages, we assumed and performed different roles and along the way, we get to experience, learn, and acquire knowledge about life and anything that makes life what it is, including how the physical world relate to that life and how dependent are we to that surrounding environment as our life-supporting and protecting system as perceived by our senses and internalized by the intellect to form our concept of everything that makes sense. But to make sense of all this biological and planetary existence, human beings being at the center, one must find the true meaning as to "Why are we here and what for?" but how can we then find the real answer to that question when ever since, we are so deeply preoccupied with our differences rather than commonalities and such preoccupation had created and promoted inequalities and inequities to our fellow human beings which are very life-destructive and a lot of proof can be drawn from the pages of human history, like among horrendous others on record, the case of WW1&2, weren't they rooted on differences of perceptions--- parties tried outsmarting and outdoing the other in a bad way to show superiority and to have the upper hand. Such similar event would be the probable outcome if the world focuses on differences rather than what we have in common or if the approach will be individualistic rather than holistic...isn't the aftermath of WWs has given the world peace a chance and provided a "look back" that short-mindedness doesn't bring us any good because the focus is not for the "#commongood" but "#uncommon_differences" and as long as we prefer the latter, there will always be misunderstanding and we all know that, more often than not, it is a recipe for disruption, to say the least. We came this far as a civilized society because of the knowledge we gained from life's experiences---good and bad---to weigh the difference and see that real progress can only come and continue to be so when there is peace and real peace can only bring real harmony when there is "#True_Inclusivity" for all races and for all ages. A society will never serve justice without respect and true respect can only comes by recognizing that as human beings, we are equals among equals with no ifs and no buts. There has to be equality and equity for everyone and that could only happen if countries act as as one collective body to establish a "#planetary_life_of_inclusivity" and nothing less. No inclusivity=🚫Injustice Otherwise, we are not worthy of this planet🌳nor to be "human beings"👨👩👧👦!🤔

Very eloquently spoken. It reminds me of the people I worked with in construction as well. In fact they are often one and the same people he speaks of. We often found ourselves struggling, and doing battle with many things that life throws at you before, during, and after work. Most of the time we were required just to take it and keep working, only to find we were missing the self expression skills to master ourselves. Take the time to speak with the people you work with, and check in with a casual hi, how's it going every once in a while. ask how their family is and get to know the names of their family members. Just listen, empathize, and share. You never know where that kind of human interaction and connection can lead. We spend a lot of time with the people we work with. Take the time to know them more than someone who's just a fellow worker. It doesn't take a lot of time to do and yet it can be vital to understanding your work family. https://lnkd.in/grBZTv_p
