I had a great panel discussion with Szabolcs I. Ferencz, Gergely Szabó, Akos Kriston and Toth Borbala last week about the future of gas markets in Hungary and in the broader region. We, as infrastructure and financial service providers will have to focus on creating an even more efficient platform for trading, in order to support market participants to benefit from what a reshaping trading environment has to offer.

A new report by Guidehouse says that Europe could produce 11 billion cubic metres (bcm) of biomethane by 2040. This amount represents over 30% of the EU gas consumption in 2022. Via the REPowerEU, the European Commission has set a target of 35 bcm of biomethane annually in the EU by 2030, representing a ten-fold increase from today’s current level of biomethane production. https://bit.ly/3KoKI4s #methane #gas #biomethane

Gerasimos Avlonitis, Market & System Development Senior Director of #DESFA participated in the 15th SE Europe Energy Dialogue organized by IENE - Institute of Energy for South - East Europe in Thessaloniki (19-20/6). Speaking among distinguished professionals on the panel on "SEE Gas Market Dynamics", Mr. Avlonitis discussed current play in the regional #gasmarket and DESFA’s priorities in the short and medium term. In this regard, he referred to DESFA's leading role in deepening #regionalcooperation within the framework of the #VerticalCorridor initiative and the company's projects for increasing the #exportcapacity of Greece, while he referred to DESFA’s projects for #hydrogen, #CΟ2 and #biomethane transportation, in the wake of the #energytransition.

Despite our best efforts, even the lowest carbon intensity processes need tight control to remain effective. In the upgrading of #biogas to #rng, every method leaves a percentage of methane in the off gas; referred to as the methane slip. To fully understand the greenhouse gas reduction capabilities of RNG production, we need to measure this slip from the upgrading unit. With in-situ measurement of CH4 and CO2 the off-gas stream, operators can account for and manage the methane slip, for both efficiency and reporting purposes in real time. KazMunayGas and General Magnetic Canada Inc. Hold Talks on Low-Carbon Development during the KIOGE - Kazakhstan Oil & Gas Conference & Exhibition. Askhak Hasenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC "KazMunaiGas", met with Al Duerr MBA, ICD.D, CEO of General Magnetic Canada Inc. (GMCI), during the KIOGE conference to explore cooperation on reducing methane emissions and advancing the Global Methane Pledge. Over the next three years, KMG plans to conduct a comprehensive inventory of methane leaks at its production facilities and establish a baseline for emissions. This initiative will facilitate effective monitoring and reduction of emissions across its operations. Partnering with GMCI will enable KMG to leverage cutting-edge technologies for methane monitoring and reduction. Both parties expressed confidence that their collaborative efforts could lead to a significant decrease in methane emissions, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector. 🐸 Leapfrogging: #Hydrogen core network decided 🇩🇪🇪🇺 ↗️ A big step forward for Europe’s #hydrogen sector: The 🇩🇪 German Federal Network Agency has approved a core network spanning 9,040 kilometers. 👍 About 60% of the pipelines will be converted from existing natural gas infrastructure, while the rest will be newly constructed. 👍 By 2032, the network will have a feed-in capacity of 101 GW and a feed-out capacity of 87 GW, making it the largest hydrogen pipeline system worldwide. 💶 The 15 transmission system operators (TSOs) responsible for building and operating the network will invest €18.9 billion, with the project set for completion in 2032. 🗽 This is a monumental milestone for the hydrogen development in Europe as it constitutes the basis of the European backbone. 🫶 🎯 Hydrogen happens‼️ FNB Gas e.V.
