At Cosecha Partners, we believe in unlocking the potential of smallholder farmers. But, why smallholders? Agriculture is central to rural development and poverty alleviation, and in Central America, there are over 2.3 million smallholder families who are susceptible to poverty and disadvantageous conditions. When farmers produce more food and earn higher incomes, they can better feed their families, send their children to school, and provide for their family’s health. This in turn makes their communities economically stronger and more resilient. Additionally, these farmers can play an important role in mitigating climate change and restoring the environment through land stewardship and practicing regenerative agriculture. We could never have anticipated we would be at the centre of what is, quite frankly, one of the biggest rural issues our countryside is facing right now. It is a very easy win for politicians to say they ‘back British farmers’ and recognise food security. In reality, the situation is quite different. Politicans must dig deep, they must find that morale compass that has seemingly been lost in recent years and apply logic and common sense to their rural policies. #saveoldmaltoncountryside #farming Sunak Rishi #malton #agriculture #solar #landuse #farmingfamily #foodsecurity #debate #ruraleconomy #country #countryside #planning #PMQT Kevin Hollinrake MP Tenant Farmers Association NFU (National Farmers' Union)

https://lnkd.in/eXVia4HU 1. Sub-Saharan Africa has a quarter of the world’s arable land but only produces 10 per cent of its agricultural output. 2. Year after year, rural poverty is driving people to leave the countryside in search of a better life in the city. Overcrowded cities put vulnerable youth at risk and causes forced migration. 3. By 2050 there will be more than 9 billion people on earth. That means two billion more mouths to feed by mid-century. 4. In sub-Saharan Africa, economic growth from agriculture is 11 times more effective at reducing extreme poverty than any other sector. Adopting Smart solutions can expedite this incredible opportunity to take control of reducing the poverty gap whilst also taking advantage of one of the most vital investment opportunities in the world today...agriculture. It's a wake-up call for those in the agriculture industry to stop trading emotions with results. There's need to embrace authentic data for prompt decision making regarding processes and systems on the farm, this is a critical approach that will enable most farmers break even and escape the wrath of hunger, and deadred poverty. #agribusiness #foodsecurity

Not my normal LinkedIn post, but it's an important one. 🌾 Standing in Support of Farmers 🌾 Today, farmers from across the UK have travelled to London to make their voices heard. Their hard work keeps food on our tables and sustains rural communities, yet they often face immense challenges – from rising costs to unpredictable weather and policy changes. Food security is something we can’t take for granted. When we can no longer produce enough food to feed ourselves, we become reliant on imports, leaving us vulnerable to global market fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical tensions. Supporting our farmers isn’t just about supporting rural livelihoods – it’s about safeguarding our nation’s ability to feed its people. As someone deeply connected to rural life and the agricultural sector, I stand in solidarity with these farmers. Their dedication deserves recognition and action to ensure they can continue to do what they do best: feed our nation. Let’s take a moment to appreciate their contributions and advocate for fair treatment, sustainable practices, and support for the future of farming. 💚 #SupportFarmers #FoodSecurity #AgricultureMatters #RuralVoices #FarmingCommunity

🌧️ Climate Challenges: UK Farmers Under Pressure 🚜 Recent heavy rainfall has submerged UK farms and put livestock at risk, leading to urgent calls from the National Farmers Union (NFU) for increased government support. NFU Vice President Rachel Hallos explicitly states that climate change is a direct threat to our food security and demands immediate action. Debbie Wilkins, a farmer at Norton Court Farm, stresses the urgent need for help as floods devastate farmland. Although the government’s Farm Recovery Fund provides initial relief, far more substantial support is essential to effectively tackle these challenges, protect livelihoods, and ensure a sustainable future for UK agriculture. 🌱💪 Supporting our farmers not only helps preserve the rural economy but also ensures the stability of food prices and availability in your local markets. Investing in flood defences, crop insurance subsidies, and educational programmes to enhance sustainability practices can mitigate the impact of these disruptions on our daily lives. What steps do you think we can take? Share your ideas and thoughts in the comments!
