As Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Advocate at The World Bank I am always interested in learning about what builds greater tolerance and respect in the work place. With 170 nationalities, the World Bank is one of the most diverse institutions in the world -- and this certainly makes it a rich and fun place to work! But our diversity can also lead to cultural misunderstandings and tensions. This week we celebrated Intercultural Week 2024 with a focus on Neuroscience and Cultural Intelligence in Navigating Emerging Global Crises. I joined an excellent session with Dr. Mai Nguyen of Culture Move on “From Survival to Thrival: How does the Brain deal with Cultural Differences?" Her main thesis is that to overcome differences we need to: 1/focus on similarities (shared values, concerns...), 2/focus on how differences can be presented in a neutral and objective way (avoiding inflammatory language often present in the media), and 3/focus on the individual (humanize numbers, listen empathetically...). All great reminders that we are more similar than we are different, and that we gain from recognizing what unites us rather than what divides us. As an illustration, Dr. Nguyen shared this Heineken ad "Worlds Apart" which says so much about how powerful and joyful we are when we connect across our differences. A good watch! https://lnkd.in/ekWhUXdd Many thanks to Edna Diez Ruihua Dong for a great event and for challenging us to think about ways to celebrate our diversity and make the most of our cultural richness. https://lnkd.in/e33UBa-h

Hey LinkedIn family, 😊 I recently came across Heineken's powerful social experiment, "Worlds Apart," and it resonated deeply with me. If you haven't seen it yet, take a few minutes to watch it here: https://lnkd.in/eBgRC-fi In a world where divisions often seem to be growing, Heineken's experiment is a refreshing reminder of the power of dialogue and human connection. The campaign pairs strangers with opposing views, giving them the chance to find common ground over a shared activity (and in this case a beer, of course!). For me beer doesn't work in case you ask 🤣 What struck me most was how this aligns with the concepts from "Story 10X: Turn the Impossible into Inevitable" by Michael Margolis, a book 📖 I'm currently diving into. Margolis emphasizes the transformative power of storytelling and authentic connection. Just like the participants in the Heineken experiment, we can break down barriers and build bridges by sharing our stories and listening to others. As a startup co-founder, I believe these principles are crucial not only in our personal lives but also in business. Building a startup often feels like navigating uncharted waters, but by fostering open communication and understanding, we can create a culture where innovation thrives and impossible ideas become realities. Let’s engage in conversations with those who have different perspectives. You might be surprised by what you discover and the opportunities that arise from these connections. What do you think about the power of dialogue and storytelling in breaking down barriers? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences! 🤗 😉 #StartUpLife #Innovation #Storytelling #Heineken #OpenYourWorld #Leadership #GrowthMindset #Story10X #SharingThoughts

What an incredible experience at the UNLEASH World Summit in Paris, where I had the privilege of sharing Coca-Cola’s journey of cultural transformation in Europe. This isn’t just another story about change; it’s about setting a new standard for how culture drives sustainable business impact. We’ve taken bold steps to turn adversity into opportunity, embedding our core values into every facet of our strategy. At the heart of our transformation is a commitment to prioritizing positive employee experiences and leveraging strategic partnerships to fuel growth and innovation. We don’t see culture as a backdrop; it’s the driving force that has empowered us to not only meet but exceed our business goals. It’s about creating a culture of agility, resilience and where we are ready to rise to any challenge - a competitive advantage that is alive and evolving. I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to the entire Unleash World team for hosting such a remarkable event and to everyone who played a role in bringing this summit to life. A special thanks to the Coca-Cola Europe team for their tireless efforts and unwavering support in preparing for this moment. Your dedication and passion are what made this possible. Sending lots of love to Ciara Cashen Rachael Stone Maria Dinu Carolina García Villanueva Max B. Alkistis Houliarakis! The road ahead is clear: stay #OneStepAhead, keep pushing boundaries, and continue driving the cultural evolution that defines us. We’re not here to keep up – we’re here to flip the script, set the pace, and rewrite what’s possible. We’re not just aiming for the future – we’re the ones shaping it. This is our game, and we play to win. #CocaCola #CocaColaEurope #CulturalTransformation #Leadership #OneStepAhead #BusinessImpact #Paris #France

🌍🚲 What an incredible time we had at Greenbook’s IIEX Europe in Amsterdam. Between engaging with the brightest minds in market research and all the insightful sessions, it was a blast. A special shoutout to our very own Amishi Takalkar, who shared the stage with Amy Gosselin and Yasmine Yehia from Mondelēz International. They unpacked the power of videometrics and how it drives better packaging design. Missed the magic? Here’s a quick recap: 1. Creating a behavioral pack benchmarking framework 2. Learning from in-the-moment behaviors and scaling measures 3. Driving better packaging design with behavioral videometrics #nailbiter #IIEXEurope #FutureofInsights

𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆. I always think that finding the right company is similar to finding the right sports team. Having spent years playing both rugby and cricket, I see a company as a place where everyone has different skills, and they use those skills to complement each other. For example, at Bistech, people with great technical knowledge complement others who focus their skills on different parts of the business. Recently, we have started adopting new methods to introduce Bistech. One thing about our culture is our ambition for everyone to dive in and try new things. We achieve this by working collaboratively, holding group M&D sessions, and having the integrity to remove emotions, making these sessions as productive as possible. This allows us to quickly figure out best practices that align with business objectives while being personal and authentic. Ambition, Integrity, and Community are what we stand for as a company. It is refreshing to be part of a team that stands by these values. "Walk the walk rather than talk the talk" as the phrase goes. Picture of us on Ben Nevis during the 3 Peaks Challenge recently, still smiling.

Last week, FoodCLIC partnered with ICLEI Europe and FEAST to host a workshop at The Nature of Cities Festival. This workshop introduced the concept of Food Heroes to a wider audience, showcasing innovative and creative ways to transform food systems. Key takeaways from the workshop: 1️⃣ Food transcends cultural barriers and serves as a powerful tool for connecting people from all over the world. Sharing ideas and experiences over food strengthens these connections even further. 2️⃣ People have unique viewpoints on food systems, shaped by their location, environment, economic background, and profession. This diversity of perspectives is valuable and should be considered when developing solutions. 3️⃣ Effective communication is crucial in the field of research. The workshop explored innovative ways to communicate complex ideas engagingly. 4️⃣ Visualization is one of the most essential communication tools. Visuals can be a more engaging and effective way to convey information compared to text alone. 5️⃣ Group activities can be enjoyable and productive. They can be a great way to foster collaboration and generate creative solutions. 6️⃣ And finally, Teamwork Makes the Dream Work. Working together allows us to achieve more than we could ever achieve alone. We are thankful to the organizers of The Nature of Cities Festival and all the participants for making this workshop a success! But this is not the end. The results of the workshop will be made available soon! So, Stay Tuned! #feast2030 #workshop #communication #innovation
