Chelsea Football Club's new youth-development approach ⚽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Chelsea FC are switching their approach to academy football under the guidance of co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley. Owners Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly are pushing for a seamless integration of the academy and first team, ensuring youth development and recruitment work hand-in-hand to feed the first team.   By significantly increasing investment in youth recruitment, Chelsea aims to produce first-team-ready players directly from the academy, minimizing the need for loan spells, which had been central to the club's youth strategy in the past. Using Eyeball can facilitate the uncovering of potentially first-team-compatible footballers for your academy, applying stat filters and utilizing custom sorting to search through the database of 148K+ players on the platform for the prospects most suited to your club. With reference to my earlier post, this was a project conducted by Sky Sports to investigate the pathways for youth footballers in the UK. The experienced Tony Pulis had this to say: "The sports industry now has a massive responsibility not just to produce good sports people, but good people." Beyond the football, as many are likely to fall through the cracks, he urged all stakeholders to look into how their programs are inculcating values and principles into the development of the youth player. This is a tall ask, but a necessary one. With the right values, one can stay grounded in tricky situations and depend on informed decision-making to chart the next step. This skills is essential given that many of these young ones do not get the chance to turn pro. Certainly food for thought for all of us! #values #youthdevelopment #GTsnippets

The House of Commons Department for Culture, Media and Sport has an inquiry into community and school sports closing very soon, on 12th January. I know I'm connected with people who do great work in this space. This is your last chance to submit evidence - please express your frustrations and get your brilliant ideas for positive change, because we all know that sports needs it! This awesome community friendly club that tries its hardest to steer young adults in the right direction and inspire them. Westside FC aims to empower young people from disadvantaged communities through motivational management, discipline, quality football coaching and competitive football matches, helping them to overcome adversity and achieve their goals. Westside now has 48 teams and over 500 players. It is simply amazing, and we couldn't be prouder of what it achieves and stands for in the SW London community. Our 1st team are playing Semi-professional football at Step 6 and are playing in the Combined Counties league. The Reserve team that I (Byron) manage, are in the top division of Intermediate football and our A team play in the Junior league. However, this club is not just about football. The club has many young people from local council estates. Many of these youngsters lead very deprived lives and have low expectations of the future. Being part of a football club provides them with great skills and instils a much-needed sense of self-worth. Sadly, there is simply no funding available for our adult section. We desperately need these young people to remain in the club. We want to give them every chance to succeed in life and become awesome role models and valued members of the community. For the teams to succeed, we need to be able to fund pitches, training venue hire, match day officials, FA affiliation, insurance, kit, and equipment. Could you help us in anyway?? Please. These initiatives aim to provide resources for current and new coaches, foster networking, and create a supportive community for those navigating the challenges of coaching today’s youth. In days where we are almost constantly confronted with darkness in our days the Inter Campus / Social Goal and Good Neighbours project is an amazing little light - which brings hope and some positive vibes to the future. It’s also courageous from the parents to break away from the usual narrative and take a step forward. “We were afraid nobody would come,” said Maeir-Epstein, one of the co- founders of Good Neighbours . “Or that the parents would start talking politics, or yell at each other. But instead, they came with two very clear messages. Firstly, they love the fact that their kids are not only learning soccer but also learning to be better human beings. Secondly, they want more opportunities for their children to get to know each other and each other’s culture, and not just play.” The team currently comprises about 30 participants, two-thirds Palestinians and one-third Israelis. The young players are given original Inter Milan shirts and coaches are flown in from Italy three times a year to check in on the project and train the local coaches. “For kids this age, the impact is huge because they have absolutely no idea about the other side. They don’t know the language. They only know that the others are the enemy,” “For those three hours a week, children hear the others’ language and become conscious that they are human beings. They understand that not everyone who is shouting in Arabic wants to kill you, or not everyone who is shouting in Hebrew is a soldier…” “The real divide here is between Mbappé supporters and Ronaldo fans” - gee, I obviously understated the importance of football for the living together. It’s a small group but the message could be huge and education, where kids learn humanity, fairness and respect and to know the unknown other isn’t a “ monster “ is the key. https://lnkd.in/dpP7DAdK
