Yet another great performance by the HPS team!! Carrying out a recent CPD to Gurney Consulting Engineers, our good work was put to the test with a project designed for large driven piles to 12m deep in central London. However, due to a test revealing the piles could not penetrate this deep in the stiff clays, an alternative solution was essential. After investigating helical piles and leveraging our 23 years of experience in this specialised system, we successfully reduced the pile depth by 50% to 6m with a smaller shaft diameter, thanks to the impressive bearing capacities generated from our helical plates. STATOM Group Ltd embraced our approach, and works commenced smoothly, with piles swiftly being installed in the ground. Working within a cofferdam presented challenges, but our installation team, alongside the clients' team on the ground, ensured seamless collaboration. While the works are ongoing, the first phase of piling has been completed, paving the way for the larger CHS to be welded to our pile head plates to progress the follow-on works of the river wall.
