I have not posted much about my research or other activities. I try to improve my habits. Recently, we published an article about #climatemitigation possibilities of #P2X# pathways utilizing #hydrogen. Thanks to everyone participating for the work. The article goes through literature on GHG emissions of different P2X pathways and compares those pathways to each other’s based on consumed hydrogen. This is relevant as there is a limited amount of available renewable energy to be used for different hydrogen related applications, yet. According to the literature, those P2X pathways capable of providing the most GHG emission reductions are Power-to-Steel, Power-to-Ammonia, Power-to-Hydrogen and Power-to- Food. However, also other applications can provide major emission reductions. Another meaningful finding was that 100% renewable energy-based hydrogen production is not essential in achieving emission reductions. This rises the question how hydrogen production should be regulated if the goal is to mitigate climate change as fast as possible. Either way, P2X applications can provide environmentally sustainable alternatives to fossil economy. ⬜White Hydrogen⬜: A Game-Changer for Clean Energy!!! ⚡White hydrogen, also known as “natural,” “gold,” or “geologic” hydrogen, is a naturally occurring form of hydrogen found in the Earth’s crust. While green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis using renewable energy sources, white hydrogen occurs naturally. It forms deep within the Earth, often associated with hydrocarbon deposits. Imagine tapping into this abundant resource without the need for energy-intensive processes!!, Its discovery and potential utilization could play a pivotal role in addressing the climate crisis. Recently, scientists in France made an exciting discovery: a potential deposit of white hydrogen in the Lorraine region. 🌱🚀 The Lorraine Deposit: A Game-Changer. 🔹 Magnitude: The deposit could contain up to a staggering 46 million tonnes of white hydrogen—more than half of the world’s current annual production of grey hydrogen. 🔹 Depth: At 1100 meters below the surface, the hydrogen concentration reaches an estimated 14%. 🔹 Next Steps: Researchers plan to drill more boreholes to confirm the deposit’s size and extent. 🌎 Why It Matters? ✨Climate Action: White hydrogen offers a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels. Imagine powering our industries, homes, and vehicles with this abundant, natural resource! 🌟Energy Transition: As we transition away from carbon-intensive fuels, white hydrogen could be a game-changer. It aligns with global efforts to combat climate change. 🔹Economic Boost: Lorraine, once hit by deindustrialization, now has a chance to lead the hydrogen revolution. Jobs, innovation, and economic growth await. #WhiteHydrogen #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction #Innovation #TheLorraine #EnergyTransition

Green Hydrogen Action Plan 2023-2030 of the Chilean government. What makes you fall in love with some books? It is the Plot, the way a person tells a story. Stories are the events that make up the narrative, but the Plot is how the author narrates the events. The authors (I assume there were many) of the "Green Hydrogen Action Plan" of the Chilean Government passionately describe the crucial events in the conflict between polluting industries and the environment in Chile and their possible solutions. In a determined and relentless move, the Government of Chile is committed to providing certainty to the business world and accelerating the deployment of low-emission energy projects with this plan. To offer certainty to all the stakeholders of the Green Hydrogen Industry is a challenge that all countries face. Added to these projects' inflation and high investment costs is the need for clear regulations for their long-term development (30 years or more). The solution plot in this novel is developed based on the incentives and economic support of the Chilean state agency CORFO. The diversity of Chileans is present thanks to the masterful participation of the Environmental Assessment System (SEA) in the Plot of this plan. These solutions are not just ideas, but a call to action for a greener future. The green hydrogen industry is relatively new in Chile and requires regulations and standards that provide legal security to facilitate its deployment. The authors of this plan, who are aware of Chile's political, environmental, and economic challenges, state this. Is there clarity on what these regulations will be like? I have just devotedly read half of the 208 pages of the plan. It will be a long night of reading until I can find out how the Plot of this entertaining green hydrogen action plan, 2023-2030, ends. #PlandeAccionHidrogenoVerde, #GreenHydrogenActionPlan20232030, #GreenHydrogen,

This morning I'm delighted to attend a meeting of the Hydrogen Skills Group Scotland on behalf of Rachel Tulloch of ESP (Energy Skills Partnership) with colleagues from Skills Development Scotland, National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, ECITB, Energy Transition Zone Ltd, OPITO, Enginuity and Cogent Skills. The blossoming Hydrogen sector in Scotland is growing at pace to support our transition to a #NetZero economy. #Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, but it's rarely found on its own. When harnessed properly, hydrogen can be used as a clean fuel source, producing only water vapor when used. Scotland has ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions and fight climate change and Hydrogen has the potential to be a game-changer, replacing polluting fuels in various sectors. Thousands of new jobs are expected to be created in areas like production, engineering, and maintenance, but to realise the benefits from Hydrogen we need to take co-ordinated action to fill the emerging skills gaps. Have you read Aline Nippert's article 'Europe’s Blue Hydrogen Plans Risk Generating Annual Emissions on par With Denmark'? Catch our summary here! 📚👇 Billed by the fossil fuel industry as a climate solution, dozens of planned blue hydrogen projects in Europe could consume more natural gas than a country like France, and produce emissions on a par with Denmark. The findings raise new questions over blue hydrogen’s climate impact at a pivotal moment for the industry, with EU officials deliberating over whether the technology should count as “low-carbon” – and thus qualify for billions of euros in subsidies. The term blue hydrogen is used to describe hydrogen made from natural gas, where carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is deployed to trap much of the copious amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) generated during the production process, then bury it underground. The hydrogen can then be used as a feedstock for industry, or burned in turbines, or used in fuel cells to generate heat or electricity, or power electric vehicles. The months-long data analysis revealing the true climate cost of blue hydrogen was carried out by DeSmog, in collaboration with a scientist, and reviewed by two other energy experts.
