Alkira has delivered services to adults with intellectual and other disabilities for 70 years. Long before the NDIS. The NDIS was intended to provide participants with security and remove uncertainty. Instead we have the opposite! Registered providers are being set up to fail. Support Coordinators are literally being asked to do more with less. Ageing participants have increasing needs, not less. We need more access to plan reviews when circumstances change, not barriers and delays that wear families down and create crises that flow onto primary health services like emergency departments. We join the call for the NDIA to reinstate loading for all registered providers of at least 1% to keep services open.
