What a great summary of people’s needs in the workplace. Great management practices are the basic layer for security culture, which in turn is the essential foundation of an insider threat mitigation policy. #insiderthreat

What do you get when you reply to thousands of comments in a week?   ...Huge amounts of insight 👇   Here's some of the things that people have been saying over and over...   12 things that employees DESPERATELY need right now...   1. A Healthy Work-Life Balance ↳ Employees are burning out from juggling work and life. They need managers to be more forgiving when life doesn't go to plan.   2. No More Toxic Culture ↳ Employees crave a culture that values and empowers them. Hire people who fit the company’s values, lead by example, and create habits that reinforce positive norms.   3. Freedom to Work How They Want ↳ Employees want more than just the chance to work in pyjamas. They want to decide how, when, and where they work.   4. Real Job Security ↳ People are anxious about job security due to the economy and AI. Be transparent about the company’s health and plans, invest in upskilling, and provide cross-training for internal mobility.   5. Appreciation ↳ Employees want to feel valued. Recognise their work and don't forget the people who are less visible like remote workers or people in the field.   6. Clear Career Paths ↳ People need to feel like they are growing or they’ll leave. Career paths within the company need to be clear and regularly spoken about, and not on them to figure out for themselves.   7. Managers Who Actually Care ↳ Employees want managers who listen, coach, and care. Ditch the old command-and-control style for a mentoring and empowering approach.   8. A Sense of Purpose ↳ People want to do work that aligns with their values and gives them purpose. Communicate the company’s vision, and find opportunities to align employees’ passions with it.   9. Fair Pay and Benefits ↳ Employees NEED fair pay and purposeful benefits. Everyone loves a bit of pizza, but go beyond pay and pizza parties, and offer benefits that truly support people.   10. TRUST ↳ People want to work for someone they trust. They also want to be given the space to excel rather than be suffocated.   11. Feedback - Good and Constructive ↳ Feedback is how you grow. People want feedback but they want to know that their feedback and suggestions are being heard. 12. Respect and Inclusion ↳ People want to work in an inclusive and diverse workplace where they feel respected and valued regardless of their background.   Companies need to listen and act on these needs.   If you treat employees like they make a difference, they will.   Do you agree?   ♻️ Share this message to encourage companies to think this way   And follow Rob Dance for more LinkedIn content like this!

Lets talk about those vulnerabilities. In poorer countries it is frankly poverty that drives crime. But this is relative and also happens at a much larger level in ALL countries. What does the security guy at the gate get paid to manage transports coming in an out of premises? What does the driver of the transport get paid? What does the warehouse supervisor or packer get paid? Now take a criminal who sees an opportunity to add value to the lives of these examples by paying them more than they already earn to 'turn a blind eye'. Granted their real motive is to feed a far more sinister motive, like feeding the hunger of drug consumption and hence smuggling. What's the solution to reducing or even preventing 'insider' involvement? Remember, these are isolated examples and normally organised syndicates. Lets hear some of the ideas from this conversation.

So true Catherine Piana . Without these foundations being present and continually reinforced, it will be easy to exploit vulnerabilities.
