"Volunteering: A Journey of Self-discovery and Community Impact " During my undergrad days, I actively participated in numerous outreach programs and events, consistently opting for volunteer work over other opportunities. At the time, my motivation was rooted in a genuine desire to share my resources with those in need, without fully comprehending the significance or personal benefits of volunteering. However, through retrospection and reflection, I have come to realize that volunteering has a profound impact on both the individual and the community at large. What are the important of volunteer work: ▶️ Building of personal growth: Help one to develop new skills, build confidence, and enhance self-esteem. ▶️ Networking opportunities: Meet like-minded people, make new connections, and expand your professional network. ▶️ Career Advancement: Gain valuable experience, enhance your resume, and increase job prospects. ▶️ Gives One sense of Purpose: Feel connected to your community, develop empathy, and experience a sense of fulfillment. As you're moving and growing in this, the result of what you get will ultimately be given to the community. Most times it's so demanding and no pay attached however, what you stand to gain later will outweigh. PS: Discover volunteer opportunities in your area, and start making a difference today! #Importantsofvolunteerwork #Oralhealth #Generalwelbeing

Moving to a new country is never just a move. I always say that I feel like a 2-year-old, learning my first words and taking my first steps in every area of my life. But the most challenging one, without a doubt, has been my professional journey. With almost 20 years of experience in Events and the artistic field, across various roles, I’ve always considered myself an excellent professional – dedicated and passionate about what I do. I’ve worked with love in every opportunity I’ve had, and the results have always been rewarding. I love my job! However, when you move to a new country, you realize that you need to relearn everything. The language is different, as is the culture. And, as we know, events are about connecting people, communities, and brands – all based on local culture. Since arriving in South Carolina, USA, I decided to dedicate myself to studying and volunteering at events. Wherever there’s an opportunity, I’m there – even if it’s just to listen and learn. That’s how I give my best and receive the best in return. I’ve formed partnerships that I know will last a lifetime. I’ve had the privilege of participating in several events, such as the Block Party organized by the Public Works Art Center , the Songwriters Festival and the Sweet Tea Festival – one of the largest community festivals in Summerville, SC. I also helped set up the Farmers Market, a local producers’ fair filled with emotional stories. Volunteering has shaped me into the professional I want to be. I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve received. My advice? Always study, in any way you can. Knowledge is something no one can take away from you, and it makes you unstoppable anywhere in the world. #Events #Networking #Volunteering #TeamWork #Learning #CommunityEvents #SouthCarolina #ProfessionalGrowth

I’ve volunteered at a crazy amount of events throughout my career. Here’s what I would do if I were a volunteer all over again ⬇️ The key to making the most of your time as a volunteer is by staying true to your values, morals and ensuring you get as much out of the experience as possible. We have all heard volunteering horror stories - anyone else just got flashbacks and the full body shudders? I’ve been part of 1000+ events where I’ve either hired volunteers, worked as one, or even attended events ran by volunteers. So if you are looking for advice as volunteer here is what I'd recommend: 1 - Don’t be afraid to ask questions about your role and what’s expected of you. 2 - Volunteering is a great opportunity, but you deserve time to recharge, so set boundaries. 3 - Get to know the people around you; connections made during events can last a lifetime. 4 - Every event is a chance to learn something new, take note of what you observe, and apply it to future opportunities. 5 - Step up and show initiative, but don’t overcommit yourself. 6 - Ask for feedback as it helps you improve and shows you’re committed to growth. This absolutely ensures that you don’t get exploited as a volunteer, you have the best time, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the event’s success. 🏳️ I have been waving the flag for International Volunteer Day all yesterday and will continue to do so, so please don’t be one of those organisers who forgets the importance of supporting and respecting your volunteers! #VolunteerAppreciation #EventVolunteers #RespectVolunteers #VolunteerLeadership #EventIndustry

One of my top recommendations for anyone curious to pursue a new career path or expand inside your leadership in a new way - yet not feeling confident that you embody the skills for that path - is to volunteer in a project that piques your curiosity and feels fun. I recommend this because your greatest credential for any career path is your natural born genius ~ the gifts you carry innately and no one had to teach you. These gifts come out (and you can see them) when you have a chance to play without the pressures you might face inside a job. In volunteering, you are free to just be you and see where that takes you. A unique volunteer opportunity coming up is to share your gifts to support the 2024 Democratic National Convention that is happening in Chicago this summer. If this feels fun to you, you can consider it a chance to play, let your gifts shine through, and let the magic happen from there. One of my close contacts is leading the organization of volunteers for the convention and activities beforehand. If you’re interested, start by filling out this interest form and for the neighborhood ambassador add: Ross Mantell. If you’d like I can make a personal introduction too.

At the lowest point during my job search when I wasn't getting any results, a friend pulled me into volunteering for an organization that was important to him. I was resistant, at first. That invitation led to an experience that changed my life. Here are 5 reasons to volunteer during your job search: 1. Add purpose to your day beyond the job search: When job hunting feels overwhelming, volunteering provides structure and meaning to your days. 2. Network organically: Connect with people working on a common goal in a natural setting. 3. Keep your skills sharp: Volunteering lets you apply your professional skills while learning new ones. Plus, it fills a resume gap with meaningful experience. 4. Build Compelling Interview Stories: Volunteering shows initiative, community mindedness, and character. Your volunteer experiences can answer the "what have you been doing since your last job" question with authentic stories. 5. Make the World a Better Place: At the end of the day, this matters most. While you're working toward your next career move, you're also contributing to causes that make our communities stronger. Now's the perfect time. Maximizing Opportunities: What I Learned from Volunteering Did you know that no dream is too big to achieve? It’s true! With the right mindset, dedication, and a plan, you can accomplish even the loftiest goals. When I first started volunteering at a broadcasting house, it was supposed to be a temporary role before my National Youth Service. But I saw an opportunity to grow, so I created a strategy to make the most of my time and focus on areas I was passionate about. With God’s help, discipline, and a desire to learn, I not only achieved my goals but exceeded them. I eagerly learned from experienced colleagues, embraced feedback, and over time, I became so valuable that every editor wanted me on their team. By the end of my volunteering, my supervisors were eager for me to return after my service year. What does this mean for you? Whether you’re an intern, volunteer, or freelancer, here are three tips to help you stand out and succeed: Have a Clear Plan: Define your goals and create a strategy to achieve them. Stay focused, and don’t let short-term setbacks distract you. Stay Humble and Teachable: Always be open to learning and never be afraid to admit when you don’t know something. This attitude makes you invaluable. Consistency is Key: Show up every day ready to give your best. Over time, people will notice your dedication and reliability. Go all in! No matter where you are now, with hard work, humility, and persistence, people will start to see your value. Wishing you a beautiful weekend, and may all your dreams come true! #CareerGrowth #Volunteering #DreamBig #StayFocused #AchieveYourGoals #news #media
