Why Customer Success Stories Are the Real MVPs of Content Let's talk about customer success stories. You know, the kind where you hear about some business hero who swooped in, saved the day, and now everyone's living happily ever after? Yeah, those. If you're not using them, you're missing out on one of the most powerful content tools in the game. Here's the thing: people want real stories. Not some sales pitch dressed up as a bedtime story. I'm talking about tales of triumph and transformation. The kind where you get to say, "Look, here's a real person, with real problems, and here's how we helped them come out on top." Sprinkle in a few direct quotes, and you've got yourself a solid success story that people can actually relate to. But let's not get carried away. The last thing you want is to turn a customer story into a marketing monologue. If you're dropping product features left, right, and center, you're doing it wrong. No one wants to hear you rattle off a list of things your product can do while they were hoping for a heartwarming narrative. Keep it authentic, and remember—it's about the customer, not you. And here's a tip: when in doubt, keep it light. Humor can be your best friend. After all, who doesn't love a good laugh? Just make sure it's appropriate for your brand and audience. Trust me, a well-placed joke can turn a "meh" story into a "hey, did you read this?" moment. So go on, give your customers the spotlight they deserve. Share their stories, keep it real, and don't forget to enjoy the ride. You might just find that the best stories come from the people who were with you from the start.

Customer Success Managers and Product Marketers *should be* a power duo. But often, they’re not. And that’s unfortunate because the CS team is a goldmine of real-time customer information! They speak to customers every day. They know what their challenges are, what keeps them up at night, and their likes and dislikes about your product. When you invite CS managers to brainstorm content ideas, they’ll help fill up your editorial calendar with ideas directly from your audience. When CS and Marketing are aligned, it’s not a big emergency event to work on case studies together. It can be an ongoing, collaborative process, resulting in higher quality case studies. Notion figured this out and took their case studies to a new level. They collaborate with the CS team to find clients willing to showcase their work, but they also integrate the product into the narrative by offering direct links to usable templates. This way, prospective users can easily replicate what existing customers are doing. It’s a win for prospects >> A showcase of Notion in action by recognized companies. It’s a win for customers >> Use case Inspiration + one-click access to implement similar templates. You can make this work for you by turning your case studies into tools. Try embedding interactive screenshots into your case studies or link directly to features or setups. Or create a version of your product that clients can play around with. You can get creative with this as long as you are offering value. Show your audience what they’re missing and make them want it!
