What if you had to earn the right to buy a limited-edition whisky? 🥃 I was reminded today of a column I wrote last year in Scottish Field Magazine about a potential solution to combat whisky flipping—where rare bottles are bought purely for profit. Platforms like EARNT encourage consumers to give back before gaining access to exclusive releases. It's an idea that could create a new VIP fanbase, while also making whisky more accessible to genuine enthusiasts. Would you do two hours of litter picking on an Islay beach or along the River Spey to be eligible to purchase a limited-edition bottle? I certainly would, and I bet the whisky would taste even better knowing you'd earned it. Could this be the future of purpose-driven whisky collecting? #whisky #limitededition #whiskybusiness #purpose #Bcorps #community #flipping #sustainability #whiskycollecting

What are your first impressions when you see these headshots of the team at one of Scotland’s finest whisky Ardnamurchan Distillery (Adelphi Distillery ltd)? I may be biased because I’ve met them but I’ll give you mine and see if you agree. 1. Warm and welcoming that’s for sure! 2. They all seem natural and relaxed. They come across as confident, friendly and approachable. 3. The sparkle in their eyes and expressions make them look like people you’d enjoy talking whisky with over a dram! 4. The consistency in style of their headshots conveys a team united by a common goal If your TEAM’s headshots conveys all of that at one quick glance, you’re already a massive step ahead of the competition. Are you happy with your teams current headshots? Would you like your headshots to convey all the above, for YOUR team? PM David or myself and we’ll come to your offices with our portable studio and get your teams headshots refreshed and upgraded in a morning. Or in an afternoon. Or in a day (depending how large your team is!). 📸 ✨ 😄 #TeamHeadshots

How do we support River Rock Whisky with specialist storage and fulfilment needs? 🥃 As a new venture entering the market of Single Malt Whisky, the team at River Rock Whisky were looking to prioritise getting their new product out into the world and improve their customer experience, all while knowing that the logistics could be managed efficiently. As one of the very few fulfilment specialists in Scotland who hold an alcohol license, we supported River Rock throughout the entire fulfilment process, providing a smooth storage and dispatch service for the award-winning single malt whisky. Entering a competitive market isn’t easy, so we prioritised secure, cost-effective solutions to help River Rock scale confidently, while managing inventory and deliveries with precision and care. Being described as Scotland’s ‘most-welcoming single malt’, it was only fair that their fulfilment was given the same treatment. Discover the PPD solution below! 👇 #foodanddrink #fulfilment #storageandfulfilment #businessgrowth #logisticssolutions

A 'Scottish Oak Programme'. Great news. More Scotch Whisky Casks, for the future. As an aside, how many Scotch Whisky Casks, in total, are already resting, in Scotland? What do you reckon? Even the 'Scottish Business Leaders' I ask are always MILES out! The 'official' Scotch Whisky Association figure is 'about 20,000,000'. Twenty Million. I've been told, by very senior Scotch Whisky Figures, who know about this sort of thing, it's 'about 45,000,000'. Others, high up in the 'Whisky Industry' suggest even more than this, 65,000,000. That's Sixty Five Million. Whatever the true amount, the 'American Standard Barrel' makes up the lion's share of this. Each one holds 271-314 bottles (that pesky Angel's Share 'alcohol evaporation' and age causes the alarming discrepancy!). But, if it's a 'Butt', you can expect 670-700 bottles, from just one Cask. A few Distilleries use 'Port Pipes', which are even bigger! Hmm... Port Pipe Scotch Whisky, yum! There's lots of different Casks, Puncheons, Barriques, Quarter Casks, Port Pipes, och, loads. Suffice to say, the average Scot just doesn't have a clue about the true amount. Only one rule, it has to be Oak. Old, new, French, Scottish, American, second/third hand, it doesn't matter. This further complicates things. Convenient, or inconvenient, depends if you're buying, or selling! As they're not told anything NEAR the truth, you can't really blame the average Scot for being totally clueless here! Anyway, who cares? It surely can't be that important? Well, in Scotland, we've 'got form' in undervaluing our natural resources so, now we have one, that's GETTING MORE PLENTIFUL and ISN'T running out, it IS important. Also, as you've probably read, a 25/30/40 year old Cask of Scotch is worth 'rather a lot'. Scotland has quite a few of these. We mentioned that pesky 'Angel's Share' so science tells us, older Casks contain less Scotch Whisky and 'certain Distilleries' can flog them, at an enormous premium. Add this to the algorithm. Soon, a 21st-Century Cask will be 25 years old. Do you know how much a 25 year old bottle of Scotch Whisky is? A bottle of Glenfarclas is about... £200. A bottle of The Macallan is about...£2000! It's complicated but probably explains why a nice Cask of The Macallan is a million quid now and they have the best booze 'Visitor Centre' on the Planet. Anyone good at 'sums'? #ScotchWhiskyTruths
