🔧 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀! 🏡 One of the biggest challenges many face in property refurbishment is finding reliable, skilled tradesmen. Here’s what to look out for to avoid the usual headaches: 1️⃣ Unreliable or Unqualified Workers: Too many people get caught out by tradesmen who lack the necessary skills or experience. Always verify their expertise—ask for portfolios and previous work! 2️⃣ Poor Communication: Clear, timely communication is crucial. Tradesmen who go silent or fail to explain delays can turn a simple project into a nightmare. 3️⃣ Unclear Pricing & Hidden Costs: Many have been stung by vague quotes, unexpected costs, or jobs left unfinished. Ensure everything is in writing—scope, price, and timelines. 4️⃣ Lack of Insurance or Guarantees: Accidents happen, but without insurance or guarantees, you could be left picking up the pieces. 5️⃣ Missed Deadlines: Delays are one of the most common frustrations. Ensure the tradesman provides a realistic timeline and holds to it. Finding the right tradesmen can be tough, but with proper vetting, you can avoid these common issues and keep your project on track! 🛠 What challenges have you faced when hiring tradesmen? #PropertyRefurbishment #TradesmenChallenges #HomeImprovement #RealEstate #RenovationIssues #PropertyInvestment #ConstructionPitfalls #HiringSmart #RealEstateTips

Are you a #contractor ? #homeremodeling ? #Commercial etc etc etc? A lot of people want to jump into the big chair at the end of the table. But it's not that easy, you can spend 20 some odd years, doing the work and know it like the back of your hand. But when you decide you were tired of hitting a ceiling, you went out on your own. In 20 years, every job you were on went smoother than a Rob Thomas and Carlos Santana song. Well, as smooth as any job goes. But you never ever had any red tags when you were framing. But now that you have your own company, you don't do the framing anymore. Even if you wanted to, you don't have the time. And you mutter to yourself, "can't find nobody experienced! All of my applicants are inexperienced. They have a lot of will to learn, but I'm not running a school--this is a business!" If you're going to build a successful company, you need to make it a school as well. A good sustainable operation needs room for expansion, that means your associates need to learn. Of course you need qualified people to complete satisfactory work. But you also need people who can train people who want to be in the field. The construction industry does have a shortage of skilled workers. They have many unskilled laborers in it's place and quality just doesn't cut it which puts us all at odds. Encourage on the job training in #construction show them how lucrative and respectable the hard jobs really are. Construction will always be a staple of civilization, so we will always need innovative and fearless skilled professionals. The book work doesn't even come close to suffice! let's go!

We recently came across this article and it's certainly an interesting approach to recruitment, especially in the construction industry. George Vassallo of Canadian firm Bothwell Accurate Co. Inc. visited six countries to look for the right staff to fill his 50 vacancies with diverse candidates. But it was no easy task. "The perception of construction is it's dirty, it's hard labour, it doesn't pay well, there's no future in it - and I disagree with all of it," he said. This is definitely a misconception and a stereotype that's affecting the industry. But what do you think? Read more and share your thoughts below. #Recruitment #Construction #ConstructionStereotypes
