Yesterday, I watched an interesting social experiment exploring preference of what men and women look for in partners. While all men expressed a desire to pursue partners out of their league, women interestingly leaned towards those below their own league for comfort and contentment. This experiment, though simple in nature, sheds light on the stark contrast in how men and women perceive achievement. Reflecting on this, amidst the March festivities of receiving recognition in my professional journey, I found myself grappling with questions of self-worth and the fear of failure. In the realm of business, while not directly tied to biology, it's crucial to acknowledge the differing levels of empathy and operational styles between genders. Women in managerial roles often wrestle with doubts about the significance of their growth and tend to question themselves more intensely than men. However, it's essential to recognize and embrace these differences in thinking and approach. We shouldn't feel compelled to conform to male counterparts' operational styles to prove ourselves. Instead, let's celebrate our unique perspectives, find strength in our differences, and lead authentically as women. Here's to leading with confidence, embracing our distinctiveness, and thriving as leaders, unapologetically leading as women! #leadlikeawoman #womeninbusiness #womenleaders #entreprenuership #ownyourspace #selfreflection #diversity #strenghtindifference #womenempowerment #doityourway #under30 #youngentrepreneur #womanentrepreneur #businesswoman #womaninbusiness #hospitalitylife #solopreneur #kolkata

"High-status" might not be our favorite phrase, but it’s what the research used to describe those who can influence opportunities, offers, and resources. It’s clear that networking opens doors. However, research has largely focused on men, overlooking the complexities women face in high-status networks. Women leveraging these connections often face perceptions of being unlikable and overly ambitious. According to the research, this can be mitigated if women approach networking with a sense of communality. But should we have to? There have to be better ways. Confronting our own internalised biases and calling it out when we see it is a start. #womeninbusiness #business #smallbusiness #founder #ceo #entrepreneur

Not all challenges as a women entrepreneur are overwhelming. I have been in business for a decade now and I have seen how in several cases, challenges can bring you extraordinary growth as well. But often dealing with these challenges as a women entrepreneur becomes much more difficult than you might have imagined. This is what I have learned: → As women, we often juggle multiple roles and that often becomes the greatest challenge. As a mother, I’ve come to realize that balance is about juggling priorities. This is why instead of sticking to a rigid schedule, I create space for both my personal and professional life. I have also realised that you can't be everywhere and that's okay, so it is better to focus on yourself instead of chasing things. → Even as women push boundaries in leadership roles, the needle is moving too slowly. Gender bias and stereotypes not only limit opportunities but also affect the perception of our capabilities. This is why you need to advocate for equality and avoid stepping back from showing what you can bring to the table. If you don't do it for yourself, no one else will. → A common challenge among women entrepreneurs is the fear of failure. It's essential to reframe your mindset and overcome it by celebrating every win, regularly reflecting and using setbacks to learn and improve. The resilience and innovation of women entrepreneurs are undeniable. We are capable of turning every obstacle into an opportunity for growth and impact. So instead of stepping back from them, see it as a way to become a better version of yourself. What has been your biggest challenge while building your business? #entrepreneurship #opportunities

🔍 𝟔𝟑% 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞. India and the US are not far behind at 50-60%. I only fully appreciated this stat when I started a business. We live in a world where most businesses and decisions are still owned by men. Growing up, I’ve seen traditionally masculine traits being rewarded in the corporate world - I’ve seen women intentionally adjust their leadership style to fit in but even then they were treading a fine line. A woman could easily be given the ‘bossy’ tag and if she ever failed, the consequences were somehow more pronounced. Here’s the thing: women are not inherently more risk-averse than men. It’s social conditioning that creates this bias! I myself battled the fear of failure as a corporate leader and entrepreneur. It took me lots of self-reflection, a strong community, and finding stories of successful female founders to push me to build my own business. To women who’re thinking about exploring entrepreneurship, I want you to know that you CAN do it 🙌🏼 When in doubt… 👉🏼 Focus on the ‘test & learn’ process. Find ways to test, fail, and learn quickly instead of perfecting the wrong idea. 👉🏼 Your femininity is equally powerful. Use it as your unique angle. 👉🏼 You’re not alone. Find your community and inspiration from women who’ve done it. Mid-career women are redefining what it means to be a business owner, stepping up with a wealth of experience, resilience, and unique perspectives that challenge norms and create new paths to success. I've seen firsthand how women over 40 start businesses at twice the rate of men, tapping into market gaps with their insider knowledge and vast networks to craft innovative solutions. These remarkable leaders navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship with strategic thinking, patience, and unwavering leadership. Despite facing ageism and sexism, mid-career women are turning obstacles into opportunities by advocating for inclusive business practices and creating supportive networks that uplift fellow entrepreneurs. Their ventures lead the way in corporate social responsibility, sustainable practices, and community impact. They’re not just contributing to innovation and economic stability—they’re setting a new standard for successful business ownership and building a more inclusive, equitable landscape for the future. #Women #WomenInBusiness #Entrepreneurs Ryan Burke Julie Hood Lee Henderson Suwin Lee Loletta Chow Cynithea (Nit) Reeder Kath Carter Emily Will https://lnkd.in/gAYGAJ-p

The most underrated TED Talk: 4 Ways to Redefine Power at Work to Include Women of Color by Rha Goddess & Deepa Purushothaman Here are 3 lessons I learned from watching it: Lesson #1: We have an opportunity to reimagine how we work. Most people believe that fighting to climb the corporate ladder is the only path to success. But this talk taught me to focus on: • My personal dreams and ambitions • Adapting my strategies to navigate the corporate landscape successfully • Our power to change a broken system for women of color Once you internalize this, everything changes. Lesson #2: Women of color are a significantly underutilized resource. I used to believe that to be most successful in my field, I needed to conform and adapt to fit in with those around me. In this talk, Rha Goddess told a story about how her lived experiences of being the first in her family to make a start in a new country, raising three kids as a single parent while working and going to school, and becoming an executive leader in a company that employs thousands made her a more extraordinary leader. A fantastic insight. Lesson #3: As women, we can support one another more. This lesson helped me take the first step to creating a community supporting and uplifting women in consulting. Here's how I did it: • Created awareness of existing inequities and solutions to create a more leveled playing field. • Dedicated time and resources to helping women reimagine their untapped opportunities for tremendous success and best prepare for the challenge. • Supported numerous women in establishing a solid foundation and path to achieve their ultimate business goals and achieve success and longevity. See why this talk is underrated now? Give it a watch and let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/e85DpYez #women #womeninbusiness #womenofcolor #entrepreneurship #consultants
