I've enjoyed a great day with Volunteers of America MI today! It's the LAST DAY to sponsor a family for the holidays - today is the telethon on Fox 2 News, which is the final push to get the last families on the list sponsored. (Telethon ends at 5PM ET.) If you're in MI and would like to sponsor a family in the metro-Detroit area, please visit VOAMI.org. The families who still need sponsorship are listed on the site. What does it mean to sponsor a family? Here's how it works: 👉 Pick a family. Their profile and their wish list/needs are on the site. Some families are bigger than others. Some are individuals (seniors) who need a few things. Make sure you can accommodate buying at least one or two items on the list for each person in the family, and then expect to do a gift card to pay for their holiday meal. 👉 Once you've committed to sponsorship, VOA sends you an email with your adopted family's contact info. (I'm one of the people sending out those emails today!) 👉 You reach out to the family or individual to arrange to give them the items on their wish list, either at their home or you can meet at a VOA location in the area. Items need to be delivered by 12/21. If the holidays are too busy for you to sponsor a family (i.e., buying these last minute gifts, wrapping, dropping off), but you still want to help, please consider a donation to Volunteers of America. It's a great time of year to make a tax deductible donation!

As the holiday season approaches, the reality of Christmas changes when children grow up. The stockings may not be as full, and the cost of gifts seems to rise with their age. Reflecting on the significant expenses associated with the festive season, it's impossible not to consider how these resources could make a more meaningful impact elsewhere. Amidst the commercialisation, it's crucial to remember those facing financial hardship, especially families unable to afford Christmas presents for their children. The thought of children missing out on the magic of the season due to economic challenges is a stark reminder of the inequalities that persist, even during this time of celebration. That's why I stand behind Action for Children, an organisation dedicated to ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can experience the joy and wonder of Christmas. Their efforts bring hope and smiles to those who need it most, spreading the spirit of giving and kindness. Let's come together to support these initiatives and help children hold onto the enchantment of Santa Claus. Every donation, no matter how small, contributes to creating a brighter Christmas for those in need. Join me in making a difference this holiday season. 🎅 🎄 🎁 [To donate and make a difference, visit: Action for Children Donation Page](https://lnkd.in/e5gVgZZ3)
