Weinstein’s focus will be on AI-powered growth for users, businesses, and governments, as part of Google’s global strategic investment in artificial intelligence. In a statement shared, Weinstein highlighted the vast growth potential of AI. #InHerWords: “I am delighted to announce that I will be stepping into the role of President of Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Google, a company where I’ve spent the last ten years; leading a region I know well, having spent much of my life working and leading teams here. Since joining Google, I’ve witnessed many bold, innovative leaps in our work, from the launch of Google Lens in 2017 to the Gemini Era in 2023. Even in the last week, we’ve seen remarkable developments in Google’s AI — from Gemini 2.0, our most capable model yet, to our newest quantum chip, Willow. This moment is a really exciting one for us as we continue to drive remarkable breakthroughs in AI to ensure everyone across our region and the world benefits from this technology.” Weinstein joined Google from Unilever, where she served as VP Global Media. Before that, she founded and served as CEO of Swingset Kitchens, a startup addressing the need for expanded variety in the healthy kids’ food market. She also held several roles at American media giant Viacom and began her career as a financial analyst for mergers & acquisitions at Goldman Sachs. Nice to see Microsoft continuing to invest in Ireland as many of the other multinationals hold off until they see the results across the pond in the coming days. 👏 Microsoft is set to invest heavily in AI development in Ireland, creating 550 new jobs over the next three to four years. These roles span software engineering, applied sciences, product management, data science, design, and analytics. Over 100 positions are open for applications starting 1 November. Supported by IDA Ireland, this investment aims to drive AI innovation across industries and develop new AI-powered products. With these additions, Microsoft’s workforce in Ireland will exceed 6,000, spread across Leopardstown, Grange Castle, and LinkedIn. Taoiseach Simon Harris highlighted the investment as a testament to Ireland’s appeal and AI ecosystem growth, aligning with the National AI Strategy. Microsoft’s James O’Connor cited Ireland’s strong engineering and cybersecurity talent as key to their continued expansion.
