Dear Parents, at Heroic Game Day, we know that children are constantly absorbing, exploring, and learning – from the playground to their homes and everywhere in between. In fact, only 15% of their yearly learning time happens in a classroom. The other 85% – over 4,900 hours – occurs outside school walls. This isn’t just a statistic; it’s an opportunity. If we want to tackle today’s biggest challenges in education, health, and social equity, we need to make the most of this time. But here’s the key: We can’t expect schools to do it all. It’s up to us – as parents, educators, and communities – to create engaging, meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom. That’s why at Heroic Game Day, we’re on a mission to empower kids with life skills, creativity, and resilience through game-based learning. By leveraging this critical 85%, we’re not only supporting our schools but helping to build a brighter future for every child. Let’s make every moment count. Join us in shaping the next generation – one life skill at a time. 🌟 Heroic Learning Scott Dow Dr. Thomas Reed Walter Tak Joy . Paul Michael Santoro Joe Cabello James P. Cardy Godina Jake F. Board games aren’t just fun—they help children sharpen critical thinking, build social skills, and develop emotional resilience. 🎲 ✨ Each move encourages strategic thinking, while turn-taking and teamwork foster communication and cooperation. Through play, kids learn to navigate emotions, develop empathy, and gracefully handle both winning and losing. These lessons create connections and strengths that last far beyond the game! 🌟🧠💖 #CognitiveGrowth #EmotionalGrowth #SocialSkills #ZuvoyMagic #zuvoy #kidness #moralvalues #development #holistichealth #mindgame

👨👦 Teaching our sons to be one percenters is essential in today's society. If you're not in the top 1%, you’re at a disadvantage in many aspects of life. We need to guide them in prioritizing their time and efforts, moving beyond video games to focus on productive activities. As parents, we must lead by example and establish a clear vision for our children's future. Let’s inspire them to aim high and develop habits that lead to success. #OnePercentMindset #ParentingGoals

Games aren't just about having fun (although that's a fantastic bonus!). They're like the secret sauce for learning, especially for our young champs and seasoned warriors. Whether you're navigating adolescence or embracing the wisdom of experience, games light up that learning spark. Isn't it? I am grateful for the opportunity to orchestrate and execute the game ‘Know thy Neighbour’ for our community. Charity begins at home! Objective of the game is to develop a sense of belonging and collaboration. How could we develop a sense of belonging without knowing each other as a person? Be it in the realm of pedagogy (teaching kids), or andragogy (teaching adults) games are magical portals of learning, growth and rejuvenation. These were the driving principles for me while framing the game: 1. It should have fun with a purpose. After all, best lessons are the ones you don't realize you're learning! 2. It should involve everyone irrespective of gender, age group and other differences. 3. It’s a game. It should have elements of doing, sense of urgency and reward. Here are some of the highlights from the game that could be witnessed in the pics: 1. Collaborative spirit: Witnessing participants seamlessly working together was awe-inspiring. Teamwork makes the dream work, after all! 2. Out of the Comfort Zone: The game pushed everyone out of their comfort zones, and that's where the real growth happens. 3. Memory Workout: It wasn't just a game; it was a workout for the memory! This game wasn't your typical icebreaker; it was a journey into the hearts and minds of each participant. The conversation shifted gears from generic topics of weather, movies to connect based on values. It was a remarkable transformation - from casual conversations to meaningful connections that resonate on a deeper level. Every individual brought their own strengths to the table, turning the game into a kaleidoscope of talents and perspectives. Thank you Sangeeta Gollapudi for the opportunity. To the incredible crowd that embraced the concept, participated wholeheartedly, and transformed the room with their positive energy – A big Thank you! Your enthusiasm made this experience truly exceptional. Games aren't just about play; they're about creating memories, fostering connections, and learning life's valuable lessons. As a life skills coach, watching this unfold is pure magic. #Lifeskills #Gamification #Collaboration #LearningbyDoing

Any day spent in schools with our young people is a day worth celebrating! In this week's edition of "But what does the National Center on Education and the Economy do?" I bring you this student listening session hosted by our partners in Santa Ana Unified School District. But let me go back a moment. Four years ago the team and community in SAUSD came together for an intensive learning and collaboration experience designed to create a common foundation upon which to consider how to reimagine schooling in a way that ensures EVERY young person thrives. Yep, we do that. Out of that effort came the district's #graduateprofile characteristics and, from there the intentional effort to consistently have #learners from across the district weigh in on those characteristics was born. Flash forward to earlier this week - yet another randomly selected school, with 50 randomly selected #students, their #principal and "The Boss of Everything" (their understanding of the word "superintendent" 😀 ), along with members of the executive cabinet and staff - all together for one purpose - to listen. The follow on? Every word recorded and the team will use AI and other techs to analyze, pull themes, and share the thinking of these young people with staff and community! 🌤 Imagine how empowering it feels for young people when the adults slow down and. just. listen. 🌤 Imagine how empowering it feels for young people for adults to move beyond surveys and create the space for them to think out loud about their #learning experience. 🌤 Imagine the impact on #adults when you can put ideas, and concerns, and successes to a face because you were on hand to #listen as young people shared. Yep. We do that. Reach out if you'd like a copy of the facilitator guide AND share with us your thoughts on this prompt: "How are you "systematizing" your effort to listen to young people?" Another inspiring day at Hero’s Elementary! Today, we delved into the minds of our brilliant students during another round of listening sessions. Their insights and creativity shined brightly, lighting up every conversation. A huge thank you to all the facilitators who helped make today not just productive but also incredibly fun! 🙌 Let’s keep the ideas flowing and continue to transform our learning environment together. 💡📘 #WEareSAUSD #SAUSDBetterTogether #SAUSDGraduateProfile
