Staying Connected to the Core of My Work
When I first started in this industry, I was doing everything hands-on, in every sense of the word. As the company grew, so did my responsibilities.
Today, i'm overseeing multiple branches and managing broader marketing strategies. But I have to be honest it wasn’t easy stepping away from the day-to-day production work.
I questioned myself: If I’m not physically involved in the technical aspects, in-store activities, or on set during shoots, am I still as effective?
Sure, managing from above is easier it's what many marketing managers aspire to. But something shifted during COVID-19. I realized I wanted to be just as skilled as the people I manage.
To lead well, you need more than just understanding the bigger picture.
You need to stay in touch with the details.
People often ask me why I still attend shoots after hours, why I show up when the store closes. After all, we have top-tier professionals.
The truth is, I know this business inside out. I lead also the customer service, know every branch manager, understand our clients, and their frustrations.
Being present on the ground, staying close to the action that's who I am.
I've been offered higher roles, but I’ve always declined.
Why? Because I love being hands-on. That’s me. I enjoy "getting my hands dirty".
What about you? What kind of marketing manager are you?
