DBS and he are partnering up to galvanise youth to believe in themselves and pursue their aspirations, even if it means taking the path less travelled. The four-and-a-half-year partnership was announced ahead of Maeder's debut at the Paris Olympic Games. Maeder is currently a two-time and current world champion kitefoiler and an Asian Games gold medalist. The partnership is part of DBS' commitment to work with its stakeholders to spark change and make a positive impact. During the interview, Gupta has made Maeder see how his humble efforts in kitefoiling relates to the bank's culture. 🌟 “I’m very impressed by how young Maeder is driven by an unwavering sense of purpose and by how much he has achieved on the world stage." 🌟 "His drive to do better, combined with hard work and determination, resonates with all of us at DBS, young and old alike." 🌟 Likewise, Maeder has learnt that in navigating the wind and waves, being mentally prepared for uncertain and changing conditions, coupled with the joy he feels while kitefoiling, will also prepare him well to lead a team in the corporate world. This is embodiment in the spirit of determination, resilience and never giving up. The Olympic Games are on, and while we are all enthusiastically counting the medals our teams win, I want to talk about perseverance and its importance in business. Have you heard about Eric the Eel? Eric Moussambani Malonga is an Olympic swimmer from Equatorial Guinea. He got a wild card to enter the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney but had almost no training when he went there. His swim was more of a survival struggle than a race. His time of 1:52.72 was by far the slowest in Olympic history. But, he didn’t give up and finished the race. Since his two competitors had false starts he was the totally unlikely winner of that race! When he came back he continued practicing like a madman and he soon reached the Olympic norm, and even the best Olympic time - if we were back in 1956! However, thanks to Eric, Equatorial Guinea today has two Olympic-sized swimming pools and more people learning how to swim than ever before. In business, we often face challenges that feel insurmountable. Maybe it's a tough market, a failed project, or even internal resistance. Remember Eric. Persistence isn't about perfection, it's about finishing what you start. Every step, no matter how small, gets you closer to your goal. #perseverance #business #inspiration #nevergiveup #entrepreneur #logistics #globaltrade #supplychain #warehousemanagement #shipmenttracking #globallogistics #innovation #automation #3pl #damages #freightclaims #damageclaims #retailerchargebacks #photodocumentation #digital #realtimevisibility

🌟 How Being a Team Liaison Officer (TLO) Shaped My Career 🌟 Serving as a Team Liaison Officer (TLO) for international football teams like the U17 Czech Republic National Team and the U19 Austria National Team during UEFA tournaments was a transformative experience in my career. Here’s how it helped me grow both personally and professionally: Cultural Awareness & Adaptability Working closely with diverse teams from different countries taught me to be adaptable and culturally aware. Understanding the nuances of communication and respecting various team dynamics has made me more versatile in any work environment. Crisis Management & Problem Solving Whether it was handling last-minute schedule changes or solving logistical issues, the ability to think on my feet and make quick, informed decisions under pressure has been invaluable. This has strengthened my problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm in high-stress situations. Communication & Leadership As a TLO, you are the bridge between the event organizers and the teams. This role taught me the importance of clear, concise communication to avoid misunderstandings and ensure smooth operations. It also reinforced my leadership skills, ensuring that the teams’ needs were met without disrupting the overall event flow. Teamwork & Relationship Building I had the opportunity to work closely with coaches, players, and other event staff, which sharpened my ability to collaborate and build strong professional relationships. These connections helped me foster teamwork in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Attention to Detail & Organization From travel logistics to team schedules, managing a team’s needs requires top-notch organizational skills. Being detail-oriented in coordinating everything ensured nothing was overlooked, which is a skill I now apply in my current role as an Administrative Manager. ✨ My TLO experiences were more than just logistical work—they taught me valuable lessons in leadership, adaptability, and teamwork that I continue to apply in every project I undertake. I’m thrilled to announce that next week I’ll be working as the Team Liaison Officer (TLO) for the Spain U19 national football team! 🇪🇸⚽ #SportsManagement #TLO #EventManagement #Teamwork #Leadership #CareerDevelopment #SportsIndustry

Came across this article from Jason Zintak (a fellow oarsman) that perfectly captures the parallels between success in rowing and success in business using 'Boys in the Boat' as the backdrop. (ed. note, it's a great watch and a better read) Jason's point about trust fostered by alignment could not be more accurate in both rowing and business. Data-driven alignment creates cohesity across revenue teams and the ones that recognize the need for trust and build their culture, people and processes around it are almost always the most successful. A thought provoking read-enjoy! https://lnkd.in/egYQ2A4R

Ahh, the life of a Change Manager. If you think it’s all about guiding others through the change curve, think again. Spoiler alert: we ride that emotional rollercoaster too, and sometimes (all the time) we get front-row seats to the 'valley of despair'. How ironic! Here we are, the so-called 'experts' in navigating change, yet we find ourselves grappling with the same feelings along with everyone else. It’s like being a tour guide who occasionally gets lost but still manages to find the way back with a smile (and maybe a few extra grey hairs). Yesterday I listened to AECOM’s President, Lara Poloni, and ANZ Chief Executive, Mark McManamny, highlight the progress we’ve made on our Sustainable Legacies strategy. From creating a culture and framework from which to orient ourselves, to the tangible outcomes on projects - it’s all a testament to everyone’s dedication, resilience, and persistence. It's given me an opportunity to reflect on the last few years working as part of the transformation program team for Sustainable Legacies. As a Change Manager, the opportunity to collaborate with the best and brightest, help solve complex challenges and witness the moment when someone (including me) crawls out of the 'valley of despair', are what drives me. It's a fantastic feeling hearing your leaders speak so proudly of something you've been part of. Especially when at times the journey has thrown you a curve ball (or five). Change efforts for programs such as Sustainable Legacies are never truly finished. But it's like climbing a mountain and finally reaching a viewpoint where you can see the breathtaking landscape below. Onwards and upwards!
When our global President, Lara Poloni, is back on home soil, our team is always excited to hear from her! 🌏✨ Today, Lara and our Australia New Zealand Chief Executive, Mark McManamny, spoke to a packed Brisbane boardroom for an ANZ-wide Town Hall about our priorities for the next 12 months. From our focus on client care and global collaboration to our excitement about the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (only 2,894 days to go!) – there’s plenty to look forward to! 🎯🤝🏅 Our team across ANZ tuned into the live stream to hear from Lara and Mark first-hand about how we can better support our clients and prepare for a great year ahead. Shout out to Adam Fearnley, our host in Brisbane, and Jonathan Reynolds from Connect, our early professional committee, who hosted an engaging Q&A session. 🎤👏 #AECOMLife #inspired #DeliveringaBetterWorld

Dr. Dina Ahmed Al-Tayeb didn't just break the mold; she obliterated it. As the first Saudi Arabian and first Arab woman to qualify for and complete the grueling Ironman World Championship — a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a full marathon — Al-Tayeb embodies resilience that defines true pioneers. But her journey began long before those iconic races. In 2005, she became the first Saudi (male or female) to complete an IRONMAN distance race, proving that passion and determination can transcend any perceived limitation. Today, she's not just a record-breaking triathlete; she's a successful periodontist, a devoted mother, and an inspiration to women worldwide. Her ability to juggle these demanding roles showcases her remarkable resilience and time management skills. As she eloquently puts it, "It all flourished and was enhanced at the same time, but it was like playing different roles. There were times in my life when my role as a mother was the priority, while at other times, my role as a dentist took precedence. Now that my children are older, I have more time to be an athlete.” Dr. Dina Al-Tayeb's story is a powerful reminder that boundaries are meant to be challenged and that women can achieve extraordinary things no matter where they come from. What a moment for South Africa! The Springboks' triumph at the Sevens in the DHL Stadium—our first win there in 9 years—proves one thing: resilience and teamwork can overcome the longest of droughts. In rugby, like in life and work, every tackle, pass, and sprint matters. It’s a game of collective effort, trust, and persistence. Imagine if we approached our work the same way, valuing collaboration over competition and celebrating small wins that lead to big victories. This isn’t just a rugby win; it’s a masterclass in resilience and collaboration—values that resonate deeply in the workplace. The Springboks remind us that no challenge is too great when we align as a team, trust each other, and persevere toward a shared goal. Let’s bring that same energy into our careers and businesses: celebrating collective wins, learning from setbacks, and proving that, like the Bokke, we can always turn things around. Here’s to building a culture of teamwork and triumph—on and off the field!

Passion for Performance- the Transition 15 Story Passion is the ingredient that fuels motivation and drives success. It's what gives us the inner excitement and enthusiasm to keep moving forward, developing, improving and achieving. That's why we're proud to share the story of Transition 15, founded on a passion for people and performance. Transition 15 was started by Matt Perry, who had a keen interest in passion for people and behaviour from school days, @ Millfield School. Looking to pursue this further he accepted a place to study law and psychology at university. However, also an eager sportsmen, he grasped a chance to play rugby in South Africa and defer his place at university. On his return, Matt was offered an opportunity at Bath Rugby where he spent 12 years and played a key part in winning the Heineken European Cup. He also represented England, the Barbarians and the British & Irish Lions on 45 occasions. Forced to retire through injury, Matt wanted to find a way to impart his unique insight and knowledge of world-class team environments to others in business. Today, Matt leads a team of Associate Performance Coaches at Transition 15, who share his passion for helping people to get the best with, for and from each other in order to be high performing and achieve success. Their expertise in change management and performance coaching has benefited clients such as Visa Europe, Marks and Spencer, M&G Wealth, Nationwide and Bart Ingredients. At Transition 15, we believe that passion for what you do is the key to achieving success. We're committed to helping individuals and teams unlock their full potential and achieve their goals. #passion #motivation #people #performance #highperformingteams #highperformanceculture #successmindset #performancecoaching #achievinggoals #worldclass #unlockingpotential #bathrugby #englandrugby #6nations #clientpartnership #collaboration #behaviourchange Old Millfieldian Society

The ongoing frenzy involving Nigerian Athlete, Mary Ofili, and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria in the ongoing Olympics serves as a powerful reminder for everyone in business that effective communication is crucial in fostering exceptional experiences. Reports from some quarters suggest that she was not registered for the 100M race to conserve her energy for the 'perceived' more important races (200M and Relay race). She can't be working hard preparing for the 100M race and Voila! you failed to register her name all because you are managing her. What happened to communicating with her and asking her about her preferred races? Despite the good intentions of the AFN to conserve her energy for better races, the lack of communication led to frustration on the part of the athlete and a possible missed opportunity. The above scenario highlights the critical need for clear and transparent communication. In business relationships, effective communication is crucial. You cannot afford to make assumptions. Always communicate with your stakeholders, customers, or clients. Understanding their preferences and keeping them informed not only fosters trust but also ensures that their expectations are met. In essence, exceptional customer experiences are built on a foundation of clear, consistent, and considerate communication. Let's make it a priority. Happy New Month Mates ✨️ #CustomerExperience #Communication #Leadership #Trust #Transparency #StakeholderEngagement
