The article linked below delves into the intricate use of virtual reality (VR) to rehabilitate partner violence (IPV) offenders in prison settings. What captivates me most is the exploration of how VR can evoke genuine emotional responses, potentially fostering profound therapeutic outcomes by immersing offenders in situations that provoke empathy and introspection. It explores customizing VR experiences based on individual offender profiles, highlighting the intersection of technology and social rehabilitation—a relatively new and somewhat controversial idea. Furthermore, the article illuminates the ethical considerations and practical challenges of implementing VR interventions in correctional facilities, revealing the complexities of integrating technology into rehabilitation practices within constrained environments. It illustrates the importance of balancing the benefits of immersive VR experiences with the ethical imperative to ensure the dignity and autonomy of participants. This discussion resonates with my interests in criminal justice reform, prompting a reflection on the broader implications/benefits of leveraging VR for offender rehabilitation. https://lnkd.in/g-rZ3kt2

Veterans and soon to be veterans- If you haven't heard of the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) program, it's defiantly worth looking into. With VR&E you can receive "help with job training, education, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching." In my experience it's similar to the Post 9/11 GI Bill, but better in some ways. Here's a link to compare the two: https://lnkd.in/gbpZXj9J. What are the requirements you ask? You’re eligible to apply for VR&E benefits and services if you meet both of these requirements: All of these must be true: You didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge, and You have a service-connected disability rating of at least 10% from VA For more information on VR&E here's the main page: https://lnkd.in/gkrX7e55
