“I have long advocated for needed skills to be implemented in early education. 1. Critical Thinking Skills 2. Empathy Training 3. Active Listening Skills 4. The Scientific Method 5. Mindfulness 5.1. . I have always been impressed with Buddhism and it’s mindful approach. 5.2. I also find Stoicism philosophy beneficial. 5.3. Western psychologies CBT and REBT are in my mind essential ingredients to have a rational society. It is essential that the general public be introduced to cognitive distortions in the human beings unconscious thought process. (I do not see these essential ingredients to form a functional, rational and have a population with good and healthy self esteem being introduced at any time in the near future). 6. Carl Jung a fellow psychologist nailed it with straight insights of truisms. He said that they the biggest reason for man’s difficulties is that we as a species are hopelessly unaware of our own unconscious thought process. I consider Carl Jung as being my mentor and I have taken his postulation of the Projection of the Shadow Self and continued to expound on this truth for humanity. Thus in recognition of Carl Jung, human beings if they have any hope of progressing, and evolving need to learn about the dynamics of the psychology field. Thus these terms need to be understood. 6.1. Unconscious: The power of the unconscious in determining our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and actions. 6.2 Projections 6.3. Triggers 7. To me the biggest obstacle to have society develop and evolve is the cognitive distortion called Emotional Reasoning. It has since the dawn of humanity led to human misery and war. This will continue. Emotional Reasoning is all about human subjectivity. 8. What people fail to grasp or understand is this truth. Yes we all live in one real external world. 9. Each person is in a sense in their own private phenomenal inner universe. 10. This is what I written in describing the cognitive distortion of Emotional Reasoning. “Just because I may think, feel and believe in something passionately, does not necessitate that it is the truth. Not unless it can be proven by hard scientific research methodology in the here and now. And then have those results replicated.” 11. Otherwise it is a useless battle over a difference of opinion, belief and viewpoint. 12. It is a sad tragic truth that Plato spoke of this truth over 2,500 years ago. He said that until we have lovers of wisdom as leaders, that mankind shall not and simply cannot evolve. Either psychologically, emotionally or spiritually. What I have shared is just a brief outline of what I believe are essential ingredients. It would be a sad tragedy that in another 1,000 years none of what I have shared will be implemented.
