🔈 #HellasQCI participates at this year’s ECOC Exhibition #ECOC24 conference with a Paper Presentation titled “Field Demonstration of a Fully Managed, L1 Encrypted 3-Node Network with Hybrid Relayed-QKD and Centralized Symmetric Classical Key Management” in a collaborative effort by #GRNET, #NKUA, #Nokia, #EvolutionQ and #ID_Quantique. The paper presents a fully managed field deployed three-node QKD relayed network, in a ring configuration in Athens of a maximum distance of 45km, where each node comprises a fully integrated vertical stack. This demonstration in #ECOC2024 marks a significant milestone for #HellasQCI, showcasing a real-world deployment in #Athens using a 45km physical link within a complex network topology. The setup features a fully managed, Layer 1 encrypted, 3-node full ring configuration between #GRNET and #NKUA Data Centers. Each node is a fully integrated vertical stack, consisting of a Quantum layer, a Key Management System (KMS) layer, and an Application layer. As the chair of the group responsible for studying #EPFD (Equivalent Power Flux Density) at the WP4A of the International Telecommunication Union, I am proud to acknowledge the significant progress made during our last meeting in Geneva in understanding the methods used to establish #EPFD limits by the 1997 and 2000 conferences. Gaining a solid understanding of the historical context is crucial, as it enables us to effectively apply these methods to current operations and critically assess the validity of the current limits under Article 22. This is the only way to address the delicate issue of protecting geostationary satellites and ultimately reach a convergence of perspectives on this matter.
