I had a very insightful conversation with a higher education marketing leader yesterday. Their school saw record applicants this year and had an insane year over year increase. I asked, what do you think the difference was? The answer, we stopped doing things the way they have always been done. The market is shifting and messaging needs to change in higher education. We are starting to see the younger generations become old enough to make the college decision and their wants, needs, and values are different than those who came before them. Don't get stuck in the mantra of "that is how we have always done it" #highered #marketing #higheredmarketing

I’m going to tell you another truth about higher ed. marketing… A student’s decision to enroll at a school is based on their perception of reality. Not reality itself. A donor’s decision to give to a school is based on their perception of reality. Not reality itself. Let’s make it a priority to know what students and donors really think about our college or university. Good and bad. So we can emphasize the positive. And overcome the negative. This is the way. End of story. 👊🏼 #Highereducationleadership #Higheredmarketing #Highereducation

We get asked one question more than any other: How do you choose the right college? Gosh, do we have the gift link for you 🎁. The truth is that most published rankings for colleges and universities are one-size-fits-all, based on formulas that don't consider a student's priorities, goals, and needs. So, The New York Times created a tool to help you find the best colleges — for YOU. Use the tool's sliders and filters to pick what you value and the tool will give you college rankings that fit and make sense for you. Get started: https://buff.ly/43JDCR0 P.S. We'd love to see some of your results! Post them in the comments. And tag a student or parent you think might be interested in this tool.
