There's a lot to be said for having fun at the workplace. 🤗 According to Harvard Business Review, 81% of employees at companies they ranked as "great" described their office environments as fun, compared to 62% of employees at companies that didn't make the list. One of the ways that we have fun and stay connected in our remote workplace at Intrinsic Digital, is using Microsoft Teams chats. Some of our chats are mandatory (and that includes the Team Fun Chat - we take fun very seriously around here!), but most are open to anyone who wants to join. Here is a "small" sampling of the variety of chats we have for our employees to participate in. 👉 Cat Chat 👉 Dogs + Cats + Bunnies + Ferrets + Big Boi (IYKYK 🤣 ) 👉 Shout Outs (our recognition chat) 👉 Company Chat (for important company-wide messages) 👉 Team Fun Chat 👉 Unnamed Music Group 👉 Photography/Art/DIY Chat 👉 Culture Committee Thankful Thursday Chat 👉 Recipe Swap 👉 Green Thumb Collective 👉 Thought Leadership 👉 Inspired Minds These chats help keep our team stay connected and instill a sense of camaraderie. Does your remote company have any fun chats? How do you stay connected? Let us know in the comments below! #teamwork #remotework #funatwork

💻 Bring teams together, virtually! 🌐 Working remotely, the spontaneous "Oh, good morning there" interactions do not happen. They need to be intentional and creative! One great virtual team-building activity I've done at my past employer was Inspirational Fridays. Once a month, a colleague shared a skill that could inspire, and everyone could learn from each other. What’s your team’s favourite virtual activity? 👇 #TeamBuilding #RemoteWork #HybridTeams #EmployeeEngagement

Proponents of in office work often say that forming relationships and bonds is impossible in a virtual environment. I’d beg to differ as we’re a work from home company and we put a lot of emphasis on community and relationship-building. My new favorite example- the #nytgames slack channel that one of our teams recently invited me to join. I love seeing how proud everyone is of solving a puzzle, how we all share frustrations when we can’t solve one, AND how all of our brains work differently (and we celebrate this). Don’t blame wfh for lack of bonding- take a look at your culture. (Thanks Rachel Fleming Tammy Quarry and the rest of the group!!)
