How will these elected officials ever ensure “Equality” anywhere in the world when they don’t firmly believe in it themselves? Such people are called Hypocrites about whom God says in the Quran: Ch 2. The Cow 2:10 In their hearts is a disease, so God increases their disease, and they will have a painful retribution for what they have denied. 2:11 If they are told “Do not spread evil in the land,” they say, “But we are the reformers!” 2:12 No, they are the evildoers, but they do not perceive. 2:13 If they are told, “Believe as the people have believed,” they say, “Shall we acknowledge as the fools have believed?” No, they are the fools but they do not know. 2:14 If they come across those who have believed, they say, “We believe,” and when they are alone with their devils they say, “We are with you, we were only mocking.” 2:15 God mocks them and leaves them prolonged in their transgression. 2:16 These are those who have purchased straying for guidance; their trade did not profit them, nor were they guided. 2:17 Their example is like one who lights a fire, so when it illuminates what is around him, God takes away his light and leaves him in the darkness not seeing. 2:18 Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not revert. 2:19 Or like a storm from the sky, in it are darkness, thunder, and lightning. They place their fingers in their ears from stunning noises out of fear of death, and God is aware of the ingrates. 2:20 The lightning nearly snatches away their sight, whenever it lights the path, they walk in it, and when it becomes dark for them, they stand. Had God willed, He would have taken away their hearing and their sight. These examples demonstrate that the narrative of surrender as a prerequisite for peace is a false one. In many cases, it is precisely the refusal to surrender that has enabled oppressed peoples to achieve their aspirations for freedom and self-determination. While the path of resistance is often arduous and fraught with sacrifice, it has proven to be an essential component of many successful struggles for independence and justice throughout history.

Today's defacing of Lord Balfour's portrait at Trinity College by pro-Palestine protesters is not only a senseless and cowardly act of vandalism but also a perfect example of the misguided and self-defeating approach that has come to characterize the Palestinian cause. These protesters, in their infinite wisdom, apparently believe that destroying historical artifacts and attempting to erase the past will somehow advance their agenda. They fail to grasp that such juvenile stunts only serve to undermine their credibility and alienate potential supporters. Moreover, this act of vandalism is emblematic of the Palestinians' long history of squandering opportunities for peace and progress. Rather than engaging in good faith negotiations or working towards building a stable, prosperous society, they resort time and again to violence, terrorism, and petty destruction. Just as the October 7th terror attack achieved nothing but more bloodshed and suffering, defacing Lord Balfour's portrait will do nothing to improve the lives of Palestinians or bring them closer to their aspirations. It is a futile gesture that only perpetuates a cycle of hatred and conflict. If the Palestinians truly seek justice and self-determination, they must abandon these counterproductive tactics and embrace a path of nonviolence, dialogue, and compromise. Until they do so, they will continue to be their own worst enemy, sabotaging their own cause at every turn.

Never Forget Patriot Day, May we honor the lives that were lost in this tragic act. May we give thanks for those who served and saved, rendered aid and assistance. May we give comfort to those who live with loss. #patriotday
