What's better than eating cake at work? 🍰 Eating mince pies, yule logs and festive cupcakes in aid of a good cause of course! 🎄🥧 Our team has been cooking up a storm, baking, decorating and conscientiously removing things from their packets to sell sweet treats for our Macmillan Coffee Morning yesterday. 🙌 It's a great excuse for a chat and a brew with colleagues and a perfect way to round up a busy year of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support. We're very impressed with the level of self-sacrifice from our team, enjoying all those festive treats in the name of charity. 👏🎄👏🎄👏🎄 Macmillan Cancer Support has been our nominated charity this year and we've done a variety of activities to raise funds. This one wins for being the most delicious though! 😋 #macmillancoffeemorning #macmillan #charity #fundraising #teambuilding #cake #coffemorning #security #highwaycare

It's really easy for your PATnic guests to make a donation on the day. To give £10, all you need to do is text PATNIC to 70085. You can also choose an amount from £1 to £20 and simply add that number after PATNIC. For example, to donate £5 text PATNIC5 to 70085 and to donate £20 text PATNIC20 to 70085. Please Gift Aid your donation if you can. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message. What is a PATnic? It's a picnic with a difference – and everyone is invited! Host a PATnic with your family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues and pets, and have fun while raising money for Pets As Therapy. We're inviting our volunteers, establishments, supporters, YOU to host a PATnic and raise funds for Pets As Therapy. It's a chance for people and pets to come together to chat, share food and drink, perhaps play games and take photos. With your help, the money raised at PATnics will ensure that we can continue to visit people in local communities. What's more, if you host a PATnic this year, you will be entered into a free prize draw — there are some great goodies up for grabs. HOW TO PROPERLY DONATE 1. Items must be clean & sanitary. 2. Do not donate parts of a whole. If part is missing, do not donate. 3. Take it to the proper type of charity. If it is food, do not take to Goodwill or Savers. It should go to a food bank. 4. No hotel shampoos or lotions. Charities want to give their clients an unopened, regular size item. 5. Check the charity website before you go there. Make sure what you have is something them will accept. There may be exceptions to these rules, just ASK before you donate. #donating

Really important points raised here Grace Tucker. Charities need to tell compelling stories, consistently. Focusing only on the urgent, crisis-driven moments (e.g., Christmas appeals) can disengage your audience so instead share stories of progress and impact. While advocating for year-round engagement, there’s no harm in having strategic campaigns around key moments like Christmas, but they should be framed in a way that reinforces long-term support.
Comms are for life, not just for Christmas! 🎄 Yes we're borrowing from one of our favourite charities for the tagline (bonus points if you can guess which*), but stay with us on this. We all know Christmas is a time for charities to bring in donations for the new year, but so many are missing the mark with lazy fundraising and comms. Rather than pouncing on the consumer or playing on their guilt, charities need to be engaging consistently, all year round. Read our latest article by Grace Tucker (link in comments) to learn more about how charities can ramp up their comms in 2025. What steps does your charity take to make impact all year? *Ok fine, it's Dogs Trust! #charities #fundraising #donations #christmas #charity #charitypr #blog

Did you know that this week is #HospicecareWeek? More importantly, did you know that Weldmar Hospicecare raises more money through our chain of charity stores that we recieve from the NHS? That's right. Second hand clothes, recycled furniture and children's toys raise more than twice the amount of money than we recieve from the NHS. Imagine any other health care service that relies on selling second hand goods to fund dignified and compassionate person centred care. Last year 1,129,564 items were sold in our charity shops - without which, our services would look very different. Why is raising awareness of this important. Well, it's twofold. Firstly, it's important that people support their local charity shops. Donate, browse and buy - it keeps vital services on the road and adds such value to a challenging highstreet. But secondly, because allowing charities, and in this case hospices, to rely on second hand sales to fund vital care services is not sustainable. Change needs to happen and hospices need to be funded fairly and sustainably. Write to your MP. Ask them to meet with us and Hospice UK to discuss the scale of the challenges facing hospice care services right now. Let's drive change together! https://lnkd.in/ePf-G7Pi #Hospice #Hospicecare #Charity #ThirdSector
