We are excited to share an interesting case published in SVOA Paediatrics. Title: Pneumo-Scrotum as Diagnosis of Ectopic Air in Other Locations Authors: Dr. Alejandro López Escobar and team. Case Report: A 43-year-old woman presented premature rupture of membranes leading to spontaneous delivery at 35+4 weeks. Prior to delivery, an altered tocographic record was observed (variable decelerations). An unreactive fetus was born, without respiratory effort, with extreme bradycardia and poor perfusion, in addition to abruptio placentae, joint exit of placenta and fetus and a true cord knot. Newborn babies often undergo essential yet painful procedures within their first days of life, such as blood sampling to screen for serious health conditions. Effective pain assessment is crucial, and infants could benefit significantly from pain-relieving interventions administered by their parents. Although evidence shows that parents can positively comfort their babies during painful procedures, the practice significantly lags behind. A recent study published in the The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health provides additional evidence of the positive impact on parents when they are involved in their baby’s care. #childrenshealth #pediatricinnovation #pediatricfirst #impact #childlens https://lnkd.in/dvcGXnUx

British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED) 2024 Glasgow (8 – 10 October) The BSPED returns to Glasgow for the first time since 1992. We look forward to continuing discussions with our clients for GrowthXP and more generally with users of electronic growth charts in the UK. Since that meeting in 1992 the IT landscape within the NHS has evolved significantly with the introduction of electronic patient records systems. Across the country hospitals have invested in a variety of systems, some including child growth charts. Anticipating this trend, PC PAL has been developing a comprehensive child growth and development solution, GrowthXP, which can be integrated with most patient record systems. The use of PC PAL’s products has grown and they are now operating in over 30% of the leading hospitals within Europe. A recent report for the UK government (by Lord Darzi) identified several priorities for the public health system (NHS): improved productivity through technology was specifically highlighted. With a comprehensive suite of charts and calculations (many automated), including reference charts for over 50 rare disorders, GrowthXP can help improve the running of child growth clinics and reduce the need for dual working (using traditional paper and modern digital charts).

Integrating Maternal BP Checks in Pediatric Visits Enhances Outcomes. A quality improvement program found that maternal blood pressure (BP) screening during early well-child visits significantly improves the early detection and management of postpartum hypertensive disorders (HDP). A recent study published in JAMA Network Open explored integrating maternal BP and preeclampsia symptom screening into well-child visits. The study compared mothers who attended well-child visits before and after the implementation of the QI program. Researchers observed a significant increase in the detection and management of HDP following the program's implementation. Maternal evaluation during well-child visits presents an opportunity to improve maternal health outcomes through BP checks and preeclampsia symptom assessments. https://lnkd.in/dAvskq8D

Great news for Gastroenterologist healthcare providers! The new FDA 510(k) clearance for IB-Stim has expanded our addressable market by roughly 75%. This clearance expanded the treatment to patients ages 8 – 21 years old. This development enhances our ability to support a broader range of patients suffering from functional abdominal pain associated with IBS. This expansion reflects the increasing recognition and adoption of our PENFS technology. We are committed to continuously improving outcomes for children, adolescents, and adults.
