Célébrons La Langue, La Culture et la Littérature Française. 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 20th March is the International Francophonie Day 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 Story behind the specific date: The date of March 20 was chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation (ACCT) that was born on March 20, 1970 in Niamey, Niger. This agency marks the first step towards Francophone cooperation, which will become the International Organization of La Francophonie a little later. The French language has always had an important place among languages. First a symbol of culture and creativity, it was then a vector of democracy and humanism, values that UNESCO intends to promote. UNESCO loves, speaks and promotes French - one of its 6 official languages and one of its 2 working languages. But more broadly UNESCO celebrating the Francophonie celebrates the cultural and linguistic diversity that makes up the world. Celebrating La Francophonie is recognizing the potential of language and culture to unite people, to create spaces of solidarity and mutual understanding, to reflect together on our common future. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) share this common vision that places culture and language at the heart of any lasting effort for peace. and development.

Meeting with the academic staff of International Relations Georgian-language and English-language BA programs of GIU about the Re-Direction project On July 29, 2024, Head of the Department of International Relations and the Head of the of International Relations Georgian-language and English-language BA programs of Georgian International University GIU, Associate Professor Grigol Kalandadze held a meeting with the academic staff of aforementioned BA programs of GIU about the Erasmus+ CBHE project Re-Direction project. The subject of discussion was the priorities of Re-Direction project: digital transformation, inclusivity and sustainability. The meeting was held in a question-answer format. The staff of the International Relations BA programs of GIU, as a separate stakeholder, discussed the ways and methods to include the priorities of the Re-Direction project In the syllabi as well as curricula of the International Relations programs. The discussion was also dedicated to the problems that the country faces with regard to the digital transformation, inclusivity and sustainability, especially in the remote areas. _______________________ Funded by the European Union. The Francophonie summit held in France highlighted the geopolitical situation of the French language. An interesting fact and a concern of the French authorities and the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF). In recent years, the use of the language of Molière has been decreasing in international institutions, the debate on French as the official or working language is growing in French-speaking countries (mainly in Africa) and changes in regimes or the arrival of nationalists advocate the use of national languages than French. Although French is a colonial legacy in French-speaking countries, its longevity depends on cohabitation with national languages. https://lnkd.in/e3WEHCNS
