Senator Ted Cruz just exposed his belief about what he says Biden intentionally did to America! "At the start of his presidency, Biden inherited the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years. All he had to do was NOTHING — just sit and leave the border alone. Instead, he deliberately broke the system." REPOST and amplify his voice. This statement is the perspective of an elected official and is being shared for educational and conversational purposes - do YOU agree with him? #thinblueline #lawenforcement

Steve Roberts was quoted in a Bloomberg Government article regarding foreign influence in #politics. Steve states that there is definitely an uptick by the #DepartmentOfJustice in looking at when somebody is working with or representing foreign governments and foreign political parties. #FARA seems to be the “primary tool” utilized because it’s often easier than proving bribery. FARA requires more detailed, though less frequent, disclosures than filings under the #LobbyingDisclosureAct. #PoliticalLaw #ElectionLaw #Lobbying #ForeignAgentsRegistrationAct https://lnkd.in/eXaVBhB2

It is both unreal and deeply troubling that the United States, which positions itself as a global power, a beacon of democracy, and a paragon of human rights, would react with such hostility, as evidenced by its lawmakers' threats towards the ICC Chief Prosecutor for seeking an arrest warrant against the Israeli Prime Minister and Defense Minister. This reaction underscores a significant issue and reinforces the notion that many international organizations have been co-opted as instruments by the US and other Western powers to exert influence and control over African nations, other developing countries, and adversaries of the United States. This situation is profoundly disappointing and should be condemned by all individuals committed to justice and fairness. It highlights a troubling double standard, wherein the principles of justice and human rights are applied selectively, thereby undermining the legitimacy of international institutions. This serves as a stark reminder of the manipulation by powerful states to advance their interests, often at the expense of genuine global equity and the integrity of international law. While different pathways to accountability flourish, justice remains under threat from those who fear accountability and their allies. [V]ictims’ rights hinge on governments’ willingness to take responsibility and see these critical processes through. Impartial justice requires consistent political and practical support, as well as the breaking down of double standards that remain persistent obstacles to victims’ equitable access to justice. These double standards should not be accepted as inevitable and need to be overcome if the international justice system is to realize its promise. No less than the legitimacy of the system is at stake.
Impartial Justice Needs Global Support More Than Ever

As European lawyers, we are deeply committed to the core principles of the European Union's legal order: liberty, democracy, respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law. However, concerns have been raised regarding aspects of the current Russia sanctions regime and their implications for the rule of law. In response, LGP, together with several esteemed colleagues, has drafted an open letter addressing these issues to the relevant EU institutions. We encourage you to read the full text of the open letter below and join the conversation. https://lnkd.in/dy_vTXDS #OpenLetter #RuleofLaw #Sanctions #EU

#politics #unitedstates President-Elect Donald Trump made some excellent choices for his cabinet: 1. Florida Senator Marco Rubio, the first Hispanic-American for Secretary of State to bolster US diplomacy in Latin America to counter China and Russia and work with Central and South Americas on the immigration and drugs problems. 2. Kristi Noem, Governor of South Dakota for Secretary of U.S. Department of Homeland Security to work with Tom Homan, an American former police officer, immigration official, and political commentator who served during the Barack Obama administration, and will have served in both Trump administrations. He served as acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Homan advocates deportation of illegal immigrants and opposes sanctuary city policies. I disagree with his advocacy for separating children from their parents as a means of deterring illegal entry into the country and curbing human trafficking, which is a continuation of a very un-American act, which Obama began, not to suggest that Obama is un-American. 3. Tulsi Gabbard for Director of Office of the Director of National Intelligence who became the youngest woman to get elected to the Hawaii state legislature at the age of 21, served as U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021 and was the first Samoan-American member of Congress. Trump, while making a safe pick for Director of the Central Intelligence Agency in John Ratcliffe, who was a Member of Congress (MOC) from Texas and served as the Director of National Intelligence, has clearly identified the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and United States Department of Defense to purge. FBI is an independent agency within U.S. Department of Justice, has been at serious odds with Trump Republicans for a very long time. Florida MOC Matt Gaetz to lead Justice as Attorney General representing The White House before Supreme Court could be problematic given that the agency is expected to show at least some independence as government legal counsel to the president. JFK picking his brother RFK as Attorney General was problematic in the 1960s, a time of great tumult, about a century after Civil War and later during Vietnam War, far worse than today, though the J. Edgar Hoover FBI then was mostly in the wrong on Kennedys, MLK, and LBJ’s civil rights. Gaetz nomination could play very differently given how bureaucracies such as FBI opportunistically adapt to the new political reality to survive. It is through FBI that Trump could implement rolling civil rights back to 1960s Jim Crow South, in particular for African Americans, while deporting illegal Hispanics through ICE, to undo Obama’s woke agenda as well as LBJ’s voting rights which Chief Justice John Roberts supported since his days as a clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist. The Bureau must do some soul searching before becoming Trump’s henchman. © 2024 One World tamirisa.com TAMIRISA

The Attorney General picks 3 examples to demonstrate the government’s activist commitment to rule of law; - 1 (Chagos) was the result of discussion and negotiation (so doesn’t seem directly applicable to international law), - 2 (Israel sanctions) is being challenged on the basis the government did not apply UK law and it was instead a political decision, and - 3 commitment to international courts, this government has already failed to comply with the ICC's permission to file a submission to the International Criminal Court. Tellingly the AG sidesteps the question of whether the newly configured security council would extend the veto to new members as a ‘political matter.’ No more so than widening the security council in the first place. In fact on examination all 3 of the actions the chief legal adviser cites are political too. So by commitment to upholding international law the AG seems to mean the politicisation of law. The UK government is seeking reform of the United Nations security council, the attorney general said last night.
