𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝟭. In the picture below, you can see a working example of how the Magento 'around' plugin might appear after compilation. This concise solution, consisting of just a few lines, makes over 400 lines of Magento code redundant and prevents their execution on the frontend. Furthermore, it significantly simplifies debugging compared to the daunting Magento stack traces and their deep nesting. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝟮. In my previous post, I mentioned an indexer bug that was eventually addressed in version 2.3.7. The fix involved filtering out duplicate items in the queue using a temporary table, which added over 500 lines of new code. The question arises - why wasn't the issue resolved using the well-known 'INSERT IGNORE' approach? Honestly, it could be solved with a simple 'INSERT IGNORE', especially if implemented alongside changes to the queue handling and structure to prevent concurrency issues. However, in large companies, who is actually looking for easy and safe solutions? Furthermore, the current method Magento uses to handle the queue still contains bugs. For instance, one long standing bug since the inception of the queue implementation is that it fails to capture product IDs that aren't committed before the indexer retrieves the last batch from the queue. This problem usually goes unnoticed in most projects. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 of bad solutions include never-ending bugs || increasing complexity || poor performance. It makes my heart glow to know that such 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 in Lightna 👏👏, not intentionally but as a natural outcome of the development process.
