Here’s one for my fellow logistics nerds. Paris via the numbers that keep the Olympic Games going! 🥇 A few weeks ago my Melbourne Grand Prix logistics post proved popular, so I thought I’d go again with the Olympics. What’s more interesting..., wheels or world records?      There are 2-3 million foreign visitors expected in Paris for the Olympics, including 10,500 athletes, and it’s there where the logistics get interesting.     For officials and athletes, there’s no waiting at baggage carousels to collect luggage:    🧳 68,000 ITEMS OF LUGGAGE will have RFID tags attached, enabling transportation straight through customs and direct to owner’s rooms in the Athletes’ Village    And when the people get there, sleeping arrangements will have been handled:    🛏️ 17,000 BEDS will have been shipped in and assembled     It’s good to have options if you end up sharing with a snorer 👍🏻    Between the events themselves:    🪑 250 CONTAINERS of temporary seating need to be moved, assembled, disassembled and moved again    👩🏻🔧 700 WORKERS will be hired to handle the freight (it’s hard enough finding 1 person sometimes!)    🏋🏽♀️ 900,000 ITEMS of sporting equipment, from hurdles to horseshoes and shot puts to surfboards, all need to be in the right place at the right time    But wait, there’s more!    📦 170,000 PALLETS of furniture, fixtures, equipment & merch    🚚 7,000 LAST MILE TRIPS, driven by a fleet of...    🚛 300 VANS AND TRUCKS 🚐    CEVA Logistics are handling it all. I think they deserve a medal! 🥇
