#advice for #teachers The Power of Learning Objectives (LOs) As educators, one of our greatest tools for impactful teaching is a well-crafted learning objective. Effective LOs do more than just tell students what they’ll learn; they guide them on how to apply that knowledge in meaningful ways. Learning isn't only about content, but skills Here are a few tips to keep in mind: Create actionable LOs: Instead of simply stating what students will know, focus on how they will use that knowledge. Think about verbs like “analyze,” “create,” or “evaluate”—these encourage higher-level thinking and engagement. Align Activities with Objectives: The activities you plan should help in achieving the LO. Ask yourself: Will this activity actually help students achieve the objective? If not, refine it until it does. Ensure Relevance and Practicality: Learning is most powerful when it’s relevant. Put them in context ...Tie your objectives to real-world applications, making learning both meaningful and memorable. Let’s move beyond teaching knowledge alone and empower students with skills they can use beyond the classroom.
