The introduction of High Dynamic Range (HDR) is still the leading video topic for the EBU, especially because high-value live sports broadcasts are increasingly produced in HDR, including UEFA 2024 and the Olympic Games in Paris. https://lnkd.in/e2FSf9pD

Unfortunately slim pickings still. The bulk of HDR content is still streamer only, and there is a market desire for this in at least part of the motivations for consumers to move to streaming content sources over broadcast providers. However most broadcasters are struggling to build the case and the actual capability to improve video quality, preferring to focus on the limited moves to transition to streaming. We can only hope that content quality becomes the concern soon for those activities, as although I do see many broadcaster streaming services out there, the video quality is not generally acceptable - very much optimised for cost alone.
