Some topics are just hard to draw... So, illustrating the Easter message with one of my favourite authors to work with, was definitely a creative challenge. Ain't nobody want little kids around the world be scarred for life by depictions of crucifixion in a way that is just not helpful... Just like choosing the right words to speak the truth in love, illustration wrestles with similar challenges. ("...but how?!") Have you come across children's books that tackle difficult topics - be it cringy or fantastic, I'd love to hear about it ;) ps: Here are other ideas to depict difficult topics : use a metaphor, use an animal (instead of human - this can be too close to home), use color or a shadow to represent, what doesn't need to be explicit.
