The German Society for Materials Science holds The Materials Science and Engineering congress this week and Deepan Sam Leo of Coventry University will be presenting in symposium S02: High Entropy Alloys: From basic research to industrial applications at 1130am Thurs 26th September CET. His talk, "Sustainable (near-net) manufacturing of metallic powder of high-entropy alloys for extreme conditions" features the downstream consolidation of Metalysis refractory metal containing High Entropy Alloys. Metalysis uses a solid-state, single-stage patented electrolysis process and is able to overcome the physical and chemical differences in metals to create alloys - and high entropy alloys - at commercial levels of output. Our focus is on lightweight refractory high entropy alloys - with candidate HEAs such as: Al20Mo10Nb20Ta10Ti20Zr20, which given the vast differences in properties are the most challenging to make at commercial levels - with Metalysis Gen 3 production capable of tonnes of output per year, per Gen 3, and Gen 4 being tens of tonnes of output per year, per Gen 4. Lightweight refractory and refractory HEAs are finding applications across extreme environments, aerospace, hypersonics, clean energy - including nuclear fusion and fission, and space. #highentropyalloy #highentropyalloys #HEAs #refractoryalloys
