Mr. Higgins is confused; if only 14% of people like the new series, then the problem is broader than one 53-year-old with his head stuck in the past. My children no longer have an interest in Disney's present offerings. From where I sit DIS belongs to public shareholders and has returned -10% in the past five years while SPY has returned 100%. Granted, the pandemic hurt, but streaming helped, or should have, and the 10 year return is 5%. The barbarian at the gate (Nelson Peltz) was turned away, but what now? Disney needs to find a way to get their stock off the short side of hedged portfolios. They had a far more competitive library than NFLX, and for the younger audience, they still do. Cutting edge art has a place off Broadway; but by the time one spends hundreds of millions it has to be refined for the entire audience such that it will generate a return. If South Park finds it fit to make fun of one of their own, what can one add? #DIS #Starwars #disney #southpark #nelsonpeltz #markets #hedgefunds #elon #musk #x #asimov #media #techinvesting #tmt

Imagine laughing off the chance to own Netflix! That's exactly what Blockbuster did, and look where they are now! Blockbuster couldn't see the future, and they paid the price by becoming a relic of the past, while Netflix now reigns supreme in entertainment. Take a page from Kodak's book as well. They held the future of digital photography in their hands, dismissed it as a passing fad, and became the poster child for missed opportunities. Sticking to your 'good old ways'? Get ready to fade into irrelevance. This isn't a tale of terror, it's your alarm clock ringing! Digital transformation isn't a playground for tech geeks. It's a blueprint for success. It's about unlocking growth, enhancing customer engagement, refining processes, and so much more. Still sitting on the fence? It's high time for a reality check. Confused? Don't worry, I’m here to help you navigate this confusing terrain. Let's ensure you're not the next 'could have been'.

Last week, a self-help book from 2020 became the #1 selling book on Amazon, experiencing a staggering 53 million percent increase in sales. How? It all started with our broadcast of the Wild Card game on FOX, where Eagles WR A.J. Brown was spotted reading the book on the sidelines. But here's the real story: That unforgettable moment was only possible because of the exceptional talent and teamwork behind the scenes. Our Hawkeye operator, Jeff Schinker, spotted this shot by doing what I constantly emphasize as the golden rule for replay operators: 👉 Always be looking, always be selling. Even when your angles seem quiet, there’s always more to find—subtle interactions, unique moments, or unexpected oddities. Jeff did exactly that, going back through his records to spot something most would’ve overlooked: A.J. Brown quietly reading on the bench. In the chaos of a busy broadcast with countless cameras and replays, Jeff didn’t just spot the moment—he made sure it got in front of our outstanding producer, Richie Zyontz. Richie saw the value, and the rest is history. That one fleeting shot: ✅ Sparked a viral sensation. ✅ Led A.J. to talk about the book in his postgame interview and share highlighted passages from the book on Twitter. ✅ Changed the life of author Jim Murphy, who has gone on a media blitz, met with A.J., and been offered multiple book deals. ✅ Inspired a youth reading initiative launched by A.J.’s foundation. And it all started with one operator staying sharp and speaking up. This story is a testament to the power of collaboration, attention to detail, and creative storytelling in live production. It’s a reminder that in our industry, the smallest moments can have the biggest impact—on the audience, the players, and even the world beyond the game. Hats off to Jeff, Richie, and the entire team for their incredible work. Moments like these are why I love what I do. 📖 So, what’s your favorite sideline story or behind-the-scenes win? JUST IN: YouTube overtakes The Walt Disney Company on Americans’ TV screens. “Americans now spend more time watching YouTube on their televisions than any other source of content.” 2.5bn people tune in per month globally. 🤯 This via The Economist: “When YouTube’s chief executive, Neal Mohan, boasted in May that “creators are the new Hollywood”, some in Tinseltown scoffed. But admen are listening, and syphoning tv budgets into the medium. As social media and television blend into one, two previously distinct markets are being thrown into fierce competition.” This trend fascinates me as it shows the inexorable rise of individual creators or ‘influencers’ (I dislike this last phrase! 😅) People are more likely to take financial advice from a friend or family member than a regulated financial advisor. People do business with people. Social media scales the application of this idea. As technology increases our ability to connect one-to-one and one-to-many, the impact on the way we do business and marketing will be significant - even in seemingly traditional industries like finance and asset management. #YouTube #socialmedia #finance #investing

YouTube and social media have become the biggest forms of influence and marketing. The biggest leader in the YouTube space is Mr. Beast Jimmy. He’s known for his elaborate YouTube videos and massive scale games. But now he’s headed to Amazon Prime Video! The question is, can his content translate to more standard television? Who else do you think deserves their own show? If YouTube is the future of entertainment, why is Mr. Beast moving?

Netflix just learned a $100M lesson about overpromising. When you hype an event as "revolutionary" and "game-changing," your infrastructure better be ready. During Friday's Tyson/Paul fight: • 60M global households attempting to watch • 88,000+ reported outages • Widespread buffering issues • Mass viewer frustration But here's the bigger problem: Netflix isn't just damaging trust for one event. They're creating doubt about their entire live sports future. With NFL games coming to the platform? This is a disaster. Because now every potential viewer is thinking: "If they can't handle a boxing match... How will they handle Sunday football?" The lesson is simple but crucial: Don't let your marketing write checks your infrastructure can't cash. Hype without delivery isn't just disappointing. It's brand suicide. Because in tech, you don't get multiple chances to fail at scale. You get one shot to prove you can handle what you promised. After that? Your audience remembers. Your market remembers. Your future prospects remember. What promises are you making that your systems aren't ready to fulfill? #TechStrategy #Marketing #BusinessLessons

🌐 Diving into the Netflix archive is like diving into the Challenger Deep of the Mariana Trench 📽️ — Netflix reshaped the entertainment industry by creating more content and transforming how we consume it. Going through today's Netflix catalog would take someone three and a half years of non-stop viewing. Actually, you'd probably never reach the end as the streaming service continually churns out new seasons of shows like IS IT CAKE? and EMILY IN PARIS. In yesterday's Sunday read from The New York Times, magazine editor Willy Staley explores how the platform’s original innovations and vast catalog changed television as we know it — even down to the layers of "forgotten" content that still linger below the surface. A compelling look at how big tech is shaping popular culture. There's always something to watch, more of it than ever before. And it's available to you at the tap of a button. "The good news," Willy concludes, "if you get bored, you can just look at your phone." I guess that's why so many of us walk around like cyborg zombies staring at our phones, oblivious to our surroundings. In 2000, the CEO of Blockbuster Video had the chance to buy Netflix for $50m. Instead, a new book says, the best he could do was not laugh them out of the room.Netflix net worth as of December 09, 2022 is $138.07B. Blockbuster is aYouTube channel that has a net worth of $15,000 dollars as of November 2022. In February 2005, my space CEO DeWolfe held talks with Mark Zuckerberg over acquiring Facebook, but rejected Zuckerberg's offer to sell Facebook to him for $75 million. Next time you are rejected, remember rejection is simply redirection. Always believe that whatever happens happens for you and not to you. The fact that someone or something rejects you doesn't take away your worth. John C said "The most powerful motivation is rejection.” Rejection is simply injection to progression.Without experiencing criticism and rejection in life, it would be impossible to grow or improve yourself. Mark Amend said "Rejection doesn't mean you ain't good enough, it means the other person failed to see what you have to offer". When people say no to you, keep going. What matters the most is they you believe in yourself. You are worth more than you think and don't allow anyone to determine your worth. Keep going. Remember you are enough.

At the end of 2023, I packed up the car and moved out to Los Angeles. Around that time, Hollywood began to experience an identity crisis. Some of the trends: 1️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬. With the writers and actors' historic dual strike throughout 2023, there was a big pause in movie and TV production. Afterwards, studios began slashing their spending on new content. 2️⃣ 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞’𝐬 𝐓𝐕 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬. Nielsen crowned YouTube the No. 1 streaming platform for TV watchtime in February 2023. The platform hasn’t relinquished that standing since. 3️⃣ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬. 59% of consumers now find "user-generated content" (i.e. YouTube, TikTok) as entertaining as “traditional media,” according to an April report from consulting firm Accenture. To cap it off: YouTube's most popular creator, MrBeast, signed a deal with Amazon Prime Video (reportedly worth $100 million) to make what they claim to be the largest game show in history. 𝐈𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐈 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝'𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞. What I found over several months (and a dozen interviews) might not fit the cut-and-dry narrative you'd think. I'm quite proud of how this story came out—you can now read "The Year Creators Went Hollywood" online in its entirety here: https://lnkd.in/eGxQVpwi And if you have a chance to check it out, let me know your thoughts in the comments below 👇🏻 #creators #creatoreconomy #entertainment #entertainmentindustry
