Reflecting on our journey from the Luxottica POC and first board meeting at MBS to the Accelerating Asia Ventures program and this recent event at Villaggio Italia during the Tour Vespucci, I’m incredibly proud of how far Ulisse (Lanp) has come. Thanks to ITA - Italian Trade Agency - Singapore and the Global Startup Program, we’ve not only grown but shared our evolution on a global stage, with Singapore becoming a key launchpad. This event also highlighted a positive shift in Italy’s approach to startups—focused on better capital access, legislative streamlining, and international collaboration, especially with strategic regions like Singapore. It really is so positive to see that Angling International are recognising that lead within angling is a very serious issue, especially when you appreciate the dangers of home smelting, especially to children. After the European Chemical Agency's scientific research on lead (https://lnkd.in/eamgZUCg...), something I was proud to be a part of, the horrendous facts are now being taken seriously and it is fantastic to see more and more non-toxic alternatives are now available, after all it is only a weight and should it really be made from such a highly toxic heavy metal? I certainly don't think so, don't you? I have certainly attracted my fair share of 'haters' over the twenty plus years I have been trying to highlight the scientific facts to individuals, trade and retail entities, fisheries and, with zero help, our governing bodies. Some have alleged I took this position due to my product ranges, how so very wrong they have been, never a clever position to make an assumption when you really have no idea about my transparent agenda! I pray this will now open the doors to further innovation to create more non toxic and efficient options for anglers wherever a weight is required. To name but a few you, we already have several companies selling non toxic, the clue is in the name, e.g. Evolve Tackle, Dinsmores, Lead Free, Energofish Ltd. Another great alternative that I would be using if I didn't fish on my natural Stonze is a stainless steel nut with stainless steel swivel inserted. As long as it takes your bait into position and holds in place that is the definition of a fishing weight, and really all you need. It is totally non toxic and fantastic as an all round weight, you can even plug the hole with an HNV paste.
